Road Trip: Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana

Barksdale Air Force Base (AFB) is a United States Air Force base which is located in northwest Louisiana, in Bossier Parish, and is contiguous to Bossier City, Louisiana along the base's western and northwestern edge. Barksdale Air Force Base occupies over 22,000 acres of land east of Bossier City and along the southern edge of Interstate Highway 20.

The host unit at Barksdale is the 2d Bomb Wing (2 BW), the oldest Bomb Wing in the Air Force. It is assigned to the Air Force Global Strike Command's (AFGSC) Eighth Air Force (8 AF).

The 2 BW is equipped with the B-52H Stratofortress bomber. It provides flexible, responsive, global combat capability, autonomously or in concert with other forces, and trains all Air Force Global Strike Command and Air Force Reserve Command Boeing B-52 Stratofortress crews.

More than 15,000 active-duty, Air Force Reserve members and civilians make up Barksdale's workforce. About 44 B-52 Stratofortress aircraft are also assigned to the wing.

Team Barksdale provides decisive nuclear deterrence and conventional firepower to Combatant Commanders for global strike operations anytime, anywhere!

The 2d Bomb Wing is the largest bomb wing in Air Force Global Strike Command and part of the historic 8th Air Force. More than 8,500 active-duty, Air Force Reserve members and civilians make up Barksdale's workforce. About 26 B-52 Stratofortress aircraft are also assigned to the wing.

Oh, no! I sure hope he doesn’t have it. Would they have to euthanize him? :/ I can see why they need to be proactive, though.

That’s what we all hope. I imagine they would euthanize him/her. To let the bird suffer would be cruel.
IIRC, they said SE15 got sick just days before fledge time.

How sad! Maybe there are antibiotics that would work for him. I haven’t been there for chat since early last night before all of this went down.

There’s no cure at all. That’s why they’ll destroy the nest if Peaglet is sick, so it can’t be used any more. It’ll mean the nest is infected.

I don’t chat but read what others have to say in it. Learn a lot of neat stuff that way.
