Monday on NPRs Morning Edition, ABC political commentator Cokie Roberts offered her thoughts on the apparent health issues regarding Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and the how the party could be looking to handle things if a replacement is needed for Clinton.
According to Roberts, there was already conversation within the party about such a possibility.
The fact that it comes now when the polls are tightening and Democrats are already saying that Hillary was the only candidate who could not beat Trump and it is taking her off of the campaign trail, canceling her trip to California it has them very nervously beginning to whisper about having her step aside and finding another candidate.
When asked if that really could happen, Roberts called it unlikely to be a real thing, but floated the name of Vice President Joe Biden as a possible replacement.

Joe Biden: Make America Perverted Again! He will be billy clinton, version 2.0.
Then this is what they are doing - preparing the ground for a Torricelli Twist.
They certainly won't vote for Trump or the goofy Gary Johnson. Biden gives them not what they want or like, but he's a safe, bland haven who will give them SOME of the things they want, unlike Trump.
I pray that Hillary hangs in there till it's too late for anyone but Trump to win, one way or the other.

“The Comeback Kid, Distaff Edition”
GOOD! HOW SWEET THAT WOULD BE! (Not shouting! All CAPS are for emphasis!)
the money controlling the D party machine has already selected Kaine but the party voters will not accept him (do not even know him!!!) they wanted Bernie the Red and all Hell will break out otherwise
“Crazy Joe” would be glad to be on the ticket. That way he could snuggle with all the little girls he could paw with his hands, and then claim it’s just “campaign activities.”
Agreed.
She’ll bring the whole tent down before she’ll let anyone push her out.
Imagine the dirt and filth she’s been hoovering up for years.
Didn’t take her long to out Kernel Kolon on the private server issue, once things got warm.
Good points, all.
Don’t worry. Joe Biden can’t beat Trump, either. Neither could John Kerry, Al Gore, or many other Democrats. His biggest strength is the fact that these yoyos think he’s easy to beat.
No, I’ve been over and over this. Bush v. Gore changed all this with the notion that you cannot change elections once they start.
Carnahan was ELECTED dead, then replaced.
There is no precedent whatsoever for pulling a presidential candidate AFTER voting has started. The lawsuits would tie up the election for a century and the fallback position will immediately be Bush v. Gore, you can’t selectively revote.
Incorrect. Your absentee ballots have already gone out.
People, this isn’t that tough:
ONCE ABSENTEES GO OUT THE BALLOTS CANNOT BE CHANGED WITHOUT A REVOTE, WHICH WAS EXPRESSLY FORBIDDEN BY BUSH V GORE.
money, ground game and 8 weeks to campaign. I want to see them pull that off
This stuff gets old too. There are realities. #1, NEITHER the Ds nor Rs NOR (most important) the American public want any more of Obama.
He stays high in “approval” because of the unwillingness to blame the black man. That would all change in a heartbeat if he attempted to become a tyrant.
Second, he doesn’t want the job. He is fundamentally lazy and I think if he could leave now he would.
Third, there are a gazillion people who have billions of dollars tied up in a CHANGE in 2016 on both sides of the aisle. That change will occur.
It all had to happen, if it was going to happen, BEFORE ballots were mailed. Once absentee ballots are mailed, too late. Now you have two different names on ballots, an invalid election at worst, an election where the confusion of whose vote counts for what at best.
IT’S. TOO. LATE.
Hillary Clinton is brain damaged.
Joseph Biden is brain damaged.
That is why they are Democrats.
She will not be replaced until she’s dead. Simple as that. They have nothing to lose at this point.
Biden is a threat, but Trump can hammer him as a definite 3rd term of Obama; wasn’t mentally up to challenges of Presidency due to his son’s death, per Biden’s own statements regarding reason he wasn’t running last year; wrong about every foreign policy and trade decision the last 30 years.
Or not...
Maybe elite so-called journalists have been hiding the truth from the public for months... Why else would there be talk of a replacement for something that can be treated with antibiotics in less than ten days?
Clinton’s view is that any chance of being President is better than no chance, which is what she has if she withdraws. 100% selfish for her and Bill.
The Democratic Party won’t remove her on a legitimate grounds of disability unless she’s in a coma or is revealed a disease which would impose severe cognitive deficits in her term. Parkinsons — impacting neurology but not necessarily cognition — wouldn’t satisfy. Now if Wikileaks sticks her with something even more damning, maybe a not-really-bad-enough disease would give Obama the pretext to have the DNC oust her.
What if she’s out?
The reality is that she can be out at any point between now and the meeting of the Electoral College in December, by the DNC switching the pledge of the Electors. No state law can touch that. Anyone who thinks that ballots won’t be immediately reprinted to reflect the new pledge, or 4that cast-before-reprinted ballots won’t be counted toward the Democratic slate hasn’t been watching the voter ID litigation.
Whom would the DNC pick?
Bernie. Pros: legitimacy (was runner up), is popular in base. Cons: scares corporate American more than Trump. Doesn’t work for the VP slot if Kaine is promoted.
Kaine: Pros: legitimacy (is VP nominee), Virginia, permits an opportunistic VP nomination. Cons: not well known, overshadowed by Trump.
Biden: Pros: legitimacy (is VP), is popular generally. Cons: old, boring, unpredictable, an incumbent in a “change” year. Doesn’t work for the VP slot if Kaine is promoted.
Warren: Pros: is woman, is popular in base — sort of a best-of Bernie and Hillary. Cons: anyone who cares about her is already voting against Trump, just not value added. Works for VP spot if Kaine is promoted.
Insert Name of Minority Man Here (Booker, Castro, etc.): Pros: isn’t white (good for turnout). Cons: no obvious legitimacy, much more parachuted. Works for VP spot too.
