When they try to explain Colin Kaepernick’s rationale, be sure to note that he was likely to be soon cut from the team, so he had a strong motivation to create a public stir, to make it appear that this was the reason for his dismissal, not that he was just a lousy football player.

Patriotism comes from home. Schools have ignored and castigated anything patriotic for many years. A coach could have advised against this and prevented bad exposure for his team.
Now that you mention it, I’d love to order the WWII awards for my mother and my father. Both were U.S. Navy. Mom was a WAVE. I already do have some of their medals. My father’s dog tags really mean a lot to me. I do know though that the fire in St. Louis may have destroyed their records. That’s a shame.
