NEW YORK With Election Day less than two months away, Democrats are increasingly worried that Hillary Clinton has not built a formidable lead against Donald Trump despite his historic weaknesses as a national party candidate.
Even the Democratic nominees advisers acknowledge that she must make changes, and quickly. Clinton leads Trump by a mere three percentage points, having fallen from her high of nine points in August, according to the latest Real Clear Politics average. That tightening has frustrated many Clinton allies and operatives, who are astonished that she isnt running away with this race given Trumps deep unpopularity and never-ending stream of controversial comments.
Generally, Im concerned, frankly, said former Democratic Senate leader Thomas A. Daschle (S.D.). It still looks positive, and I think if you look at the swing states and where she is right now, shes got a lead. But its certainly not in the bag. We have two months to go, and I think its going to be a competitive race all the way through. I would say shes got at least a 60 percent chance of winning.
At the same time, Daschle said, all the things that Trump has done, the numbers should be far more explicitly in her favor, but theyre not.
Among Democrats concerns is the fact that Clinton spent a great deal of time over the summer raising millions of dollars in private fundraisers while Trump was devoting much of his schedule to rallies, speeches and TV appearances.

LOL! When you cannot get the dead people behind you you are really SOL!
He will make a Great President !
Every thing you said. PLUS
Voters, once again, are witnessing the meltdown of a corrupt liar Shrillary Clinton. A born loser. Hopefully Trump will finally put her away. The only reason she’s so desperate to win is so she won’t ne indicted.
Well Geesh, she is a liar, a thief, and a cold hearted witch.
She is a terrible candidate that people are repulsed by.
Her policies are crooked just like Obama and she hates America just like Obama.
Because the public sees that she is an angry, mean, condescending, elitist, rich, uncaring, irreligious, hypocritical, incompetent, America-hating, muzzlim-favoring witch.
I think most of us realize that if we fail at an intellectual pursuit, maybe we aren’t really that smart. How come a bunch of others passed? Probably some women who apparently are smarter than Shillary.
“Clinton leads Trump by a mere three percentage points...”
Reality: Trump leads Clinton by an overwhelming 10 percentage points...and that was back in August....
But the American people are so so very stupid. Hillary must get through this stupidity, somehow connect with the retards out there. Especially the fearful white people, but it seems that even the normally well behaved blacks and hispanics don't know what's good for them. Why are they all so f*cking stupid? Why can't the be interrigent, rike me?
You can only put so much lipstick on a pig
“We are THISCLOSE to becoming a dictatorship.”
Fixed it for ya:
We are THISCLOSE to seeing leftists hanging from lampposts from coast to coast.
On a separate issue....did you invent the term Idiocracy..?
It fits in with the Adizes chart of companies....between Bureaucracy and Death
. . . that not only specifically has Shillary bloviating about how they intend to pull off voter fraud, but also has our good friend (NOT) George Soros weighing in on how he has all the voting machines “lubed up” to grease the skids for her. What this country needs is a good old fashioned hanging for treason!! Pass the popcorn & the sodas!!!!
That is what we say here...
>>>Donald Trump despite his historic weaknesses as a national party candidate.<<<
Writer is an idiot. HE doesn’t get it at all. Historic weaknesses? Look in the mirror. There’s no historic weakness Trump has to worry about. He doesn’t have to deal with that problem. Hillary does, that is the point.
“They are going to have to really crank up the democrat fraud machine...”
You hit the nail on the head. This is their only hope and this is exactly what they plan to do.
This is an amazing article. If they say Trump is only 3 behind, he’s either tied or ahead (my guess is they ALL know he’s ahead). I’m betting the news in OH and FL is really bad.
For them to put this out means she is in deep, deep trouble.
I was right in the spring and the summer when I predicted Hillary would be our next Prez.
The CW looked like a sure bet. Now that’s its autumn, nothing is sure.
And I had to revise my outlook based on new facts.
For some people, reality is simply too much for them to handle.
My daily emails from the hysterical girls at MoveOn.org are getting hilarious.
Kaine, Warner, or McCaskill would be doing better than Hillary.
You know, that is one answer, that Trump has “recovered.”
There is another just as likely answer: that many of Trump’s “gaffes” including the fight with Khan in fact just took a while to percolate and did NOT hurt him long term.
Scott Adams (@ScottAdamsSays) said that in fact the IMAGERY of a Muslim woman standing silent while Khan lashed out was more powerful than the words that were exchanged, and THAT is what people will remember. Or, put another way, were these really “mistakes” that Trump made, or just part of how he does things that are now paying off big?
Another thing to consider is the change in campaign leadership. This was crucial. Manafort was very good, but a) he was old school and b) he had his own Russian corruption issues coming. The new team of Bannon/Bossie/Conway are go-for-the-throat, take no prisoners, Ulysses S. Grant types. On offense, all the time. Conway is light years better than Katrina Pierson on TV-—Pierson was a fighter, but too often simply screwed up facts. Conway never does. She will be Trump’s press secretary-—if one of the kids isn’t!
Regardless of which theory is right, clearly Trump changed his approach to the teleprompter and very policy oriented speeches; to heavy black outreach; and to staying away from the one-line zingers. This has had a massive effect to get those who previously were unsure to move to him.
Yes, you are right that he is, and was, vastly underestimated, but I don’t think any of us know yet what the overall strategy was, if they changed course or merely followed the course they laid out.
Regardless, I don’t think the pollsters can pull off fraud too much longer, and pretty soon all the polls will show him leading comfortably.
