At 8 PM Eastern time tonight a so-called Commander-In-Chief Forum will be on NBC. The event will be hosted by the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America.
Hillary and The Donald will be answering national security questions (the questions will be from the audience, I'm told).
Most military members are patriots and republicans, and not the ratio on this stage. Setup!
And they also argue that whatever plan he does have, won't work, is too expensive, etc.
He can't make them stop. Just talk around them. The people will pick and choose the message, and Trump has a reasonably effective delivery. Some people are always going to be against him, for all sorts of reasons.
For every answer Trump gave in response to a question from the audience,
Matt Lauer had a Trump quote printed on the top page of the two or three papers in front of him — he didn’t even have to turn the pages or fumble around for them — which he then proceeded to read out loud and cross-examine Trump on. Surprisingly, some were even quotes from years ago.
That’s an ineffective, useless, transparent, and very silly attempt at making the questions look spontaneous.
I spent 8 years as a naval officer. I know how the Filipino program worked. They were brought in as stewards, but many were able to migrate to other specialties. We had a special treaty with the Philippines on this program that was ended in 1992.
Filipinos were the only foreign nationals allowed to enlist in the U.S. armed forces without first immigrating to this country. And the Navy was the only military branch they could join.
You can say whatever you want, but he’s winning the in the polls that are running tonight.
Do you have your fingers crossed in anticipation? Bet you do
“getting out the list of generals and admirals supporting him was another indication that he was unsure of himself.”
I disagree. His point is that he is a thorough manager. A thorough manager employs the right people.
HE WAS AWESOME!!
AND WON THAT BY A YUUUUUGE MARGIN.
Great point
Hillary = mumbo jumbo rehearsed word salad answers
Trump = engaged, organic back and forth, off the cuff (more truthful)
i THOUGHT HE DID GREAT.
And he answered the military illegal the ONLY way it could be answered.
Hillary was her dismal, wonkish self and she lied continuously. Lauer let her drone on and only a couple of times tried to counter her answers.
My biggest disappointment was the failure of Lauer to ask Hillary about her views on the condition of today's military re resources and operational effectiveness. The military has been eviscerated over the last 8 years similar to what happened under her husband. Only this time there was no peace dividend.
I am sure that Lauer purposely did not ask Hillary this question because she would have had to say whether the military needed more resources or not. Putting more resources into the military would piss off her base.
You said it way better than I could..could post!
In anticipation of what?
Agree....he never got sarcastic or angry or belligerent.
You don’t need to show the list to the audience. He had already mentioned it earlier that 88 flag officers had supported him.
I’ve read Trump’s conversation witb Stern. His answer prior to the Iraq invasion was non-committal. He did not say “I support the war, rah, rah” by any means. It was more a maybe or an “i suppose”
Plus Trump took advantage of this time to point out that obummer always broadcasted military plans - no OPSEC- and did exactly the opposite that the intelligence community advised re Isis.
Sucks to be Lauer after Trump wins. Ivanka and Melania were taking notes - Lauer will never be invited to tea.
