Voting for Trump — but Not Saying So

Pollsters misread Brexit, and now the 'Shy Tory' effect may be in play in 2016 contest

As the presidential race emerges from Labor Day in a dead heat, there is one question that may matter above all others: Are there voters out there planning to pull the lever for Trump who just aren’t saying so?

If there are shy Trump voters, it may be the GOP nominee is actually leading the 2016 race for the White House.

There was a phenomenon during the first race of Barack Obama: Those polled said they would vote for the first black candidate, but not as many actually did. Are there now Trump voters out there who are doing the opposite — saying they won’t vote for him but actually will?

A number of political observers, including Trump’s campaign manager herself, believe Trump voters are not easy to identify. And now there is evidence to indicate that Republicans and Trump supporters are much more likely not to tell pollsters and others who they are supporting for the White House.

In a poll done specifically on the “shyness” issue, Rasmussen Reports found that 17 percent of likely Republican voters will not tell people who they are supporting. Only 10 percent of likely Democratic voters said the same thing.

There is evidence to indicate that Republicans and Trump supporters are much more likely not to tell pollsters and others who they are supporting for the White House.

you have it right. the other thing is that trump supporters are afraid to be public about the support because of fear that at a future date there employer will fire them ort a co worker will set them up to be fired... if you take a look at the tactics being used by the extreme left that is what they are doing.

Included in those Dems to vote for Trump will be AA voters and young millenials. None of them want to admit to their besties that they are voting for Trump.

The delayed reaction phenomenon is a good point. We all recall how quickly and noisily that Mozilla guy was hounded out of his own company with no more reason necessary than he donated to the "wrong" side years previously.

Three Trump supporters at the same place, at the same time and not at a Trump event??? You should feel blessed to live where you do.

While I think that there may be a few other conservatives in the south SF bay area, I can’t be sure of that.

I like many things about Trump, and will vote for him, despite some of the things I don't like about him. He wasn't my first choice, but he's my ONLY choice, now.

This much is certain: I will not telegraph my vote or answer any telephone surveys/polls. I have had this policy for several the past several elections. I ABSOLUTELY DESPISE these daily polls and the the seemingly constant, 4-year election cycles where the next loser Republican candidate is being hyped for 'next time' I hate the way the candidate selection is media-driven and taken out of the hands of the grassroots/voters.

It would speak very ill of the country if we were to elect a woman who has lied at every opportunity for decades and thumbed her nose at laws designed to protect the security of America and her citizens.

To the idiot Republicans who will withhold their votes from Trump because "he could be as-bad or worse than Obama when it comes to issuing dictatorial or un-Constitutional executive orders", I say this: Wake the hell up! Failing to vote for Trump IS the equivalent of voting for Hillary.

If she is elected, she will double down on Obama's behavior, and NO ONE WILL STOP HER. EVERY DEMOCRAT will back her, along with a sizeable number of idiots from 'our side'.

The flip side of this is, Trump will have to fight for anything he tries to do, because the same Democrats and squishy Republicans will be in his way, along with the media and most of the Supreme Court. There's no way he can get away with any 'unchecked power' like Obama can, and Hillary would enjoy.

Just my humble opinion. I've been wrong before...

Maybe it should be, but it won’t be. Rampant voter fraud is guaranteed.

That is why there will be voter fraud prevention groups keeping a very close eye this upcoming election.

Nope. No landslide for Trump. Acorn is alive and well under a different name, I think. The Beast is raising money to fund the criminal voter fraud manipulators.

Keep the faith. Just vote, and this is over.

56% to 38% is my prediction.

There will be a landslide election of Mr. Trump. People have had ENOUGH of the Obama/Clinton machine.

Saw today, on a nearby main thoroughfare, someone has a YUGE Trump sign and a sign for a local Dem running. Tells me they’re Dems voting for Trump.

What Repub would put up a Dem candidate sign?

I talked to our state’s Republican Secretary of State about election fraud. She said that problem was completely under control. Thank God we have a Republican watching our elections.

I read that first line as "It is like 'what election?' in SW Florida."

If I’m ever polled, I’m going to be a die hard Hillary voter.

I don’t believe the polls now, with Trump ahead anymore than I’ll believe them 2 or 3 weeks from now when they’ll have Hillary up by 4 or 5%
