CAMPAIGN 2016: Arizona Sen. McCain easily defeats Republican primary challengers
Dont know.
Ryan won too. I really wanted to see a cleaning of house.
I’ve voted against McCain far more times than I’ve voted for him. But if I wasn’t interested in politics, I wouldn’t even know someone had challenged him in the primary. And in our left-leaning district, McCain barely broke 50%.
MCCAIN, JOHN - 30,429
WARD, KELLI - 22,275
MELUSKEY - 3,024 - Dropped out earlier
VAN STEENWYK, CLAIR - 2,076
“Clair Van Steenwyk, a Sun City West retiree, who has run for nearly every conceivable political office, is unfortunately back to his old tricks. Usually he is regarded as a gnat-like irritant. When he challenged U.S. Rep. Trent Franks last year he embarrassingly carried 27% of the vote to Franks 73%.
This time its serious, when every vote counts in the effort to unseat the multi-censured John McCain. Arizonans have an actual conservative choice with state senator Kelli Ward, a woman with brains and a following. Van Steenwyk has decided that the time is right to reprise the spoiler role played by Jimmie Lee Deakin who gave McCain the boost he needed to defeat popular conservative challenger and former U.S. Rep. J.D. Hayworth in 2010 by dividing the vote.”

McCain barely got 50% as a 50 term sitting Senator. He is definitely is in danger in November.
I am literally sick but not surprised. Kelli Ward travelled the whole state and worked her heart out. Mccain has outlived his usefulness. At least Sheriff Joe made it despite that crumb murray snow.
Rigged, you say? The riggers stole the vote? Probably not in this primary.
Thank you for putting Lugar out to pasture. Too bad Arizona could not follow your example.
70% of Americans think we are on on the wrong path. And 90% of Americans think when it come to voting that their $hit doesn't stink when it comes to their choices. They figure the problem resides with the Represenitive the next district over, or the Senator from the State next door.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
It’s actually been a popular alt-right word for a couple of years now, like “cuck”.
Easy. Three big concentrations of population around liberal universities: Tempe (ASU), Tucson (U of A), and Flagstaff (NAU). That and the general Californication of the State concentrated in the larger cities. Big cities and liberal universities are poison.
The Arizona GOP is totally controlled by John McCain and poor Kelli Ward was subjected to negative ads nonstop on tv and radio for months. I voted for her and know lots of folks that voted for her but we are all political junkies. I do think November will be much harder for him to win. His democratic opponent, Ann Kirkpatrick, is running lots of ads already. She never mentions she is a democrat - just that McCain has been there too long.
1) Ward is from Havasupai and didn’t have the strength in the Valley needed to win.
2) She didn’t have anywhere near the $$$ McCain had.
3) Beginning 2 months ago McCain’s PACs began massive, unrelenting nasty ads, calling Ward “Chemtrails Kelly”, accusing her of voting against defense bills in the U.S. senate-—even though in the AZ senate of course she couldn’t vote on such bills. She had almost no tv/radio ads.
Rubio won his primary and McCain won his.
No wonder DC is in the condition it is in. The voters keep sending the same old bunch and then complain when that same old bunch goes about screwing things up.
First order of business — reorganize the Gang of 8 and make another attempt at passing comprehensive immigration.
Only some 60 thousand people voted in this primary REALLY!!! No wonder the ASSHAT WON!!!
My senate vote will be blank in Nov.
Phoenix, Flagstaff and Tucson.
Probably,,,
That is The Question,
Is It Not?
Maybe Arizona ( and Californication) are Guadalupe Higaldo’s revenge for the Mexican- American war?)
There was a third guy, who only dropped out about a month ago. I heard he was a RINO plant to dilute the anti-McCain vote.
