After threatening to sue, the Chicago Tribune has obtained data from the citys police department that tracks every time an officer has opened fire in the city over the past six years. The vast majority of those hit were black men or boys.
There were 435 police shootings from 2010 through 2015, in which officers killed 92 people and wounded 170 others. In all, officers fired 2,623 bullets.
The newspapers findings show about four out of every five people shot were African-American males. It found that about half of the officers involved were African-American or Hispanic and most of them had years of experience and were not rookies.

You missed the satire.
Interesting theory, but exceptions abound.
I’m black.
When I was a young child living in an all black area of Los Angeles, every house I knew of, was two parent, they were home owners, and most had late model cars in the driveway. Dad was the sole breadwinner, and the schools were peaceful centers of learning where discipline was practiced, accepted, and expected.
Scouting was popular, as well as organized sports.
LBJ put an end to that.
In the early very 80s I realized that AFDC was going to destroy the black family and thus black communities. When I was in the 10th grade my best friend was a black girl and we would visit each other’s homes. She was poor, her mother didn’t have a husband around, but the house was clean and organized, the family was otherwise intact, and my school which had roughly (???? trying to remember) 10 to 15% black kids, was orderly and kids learned. A different world. That was in the late 60s, but the rumblings were audible even then.
Breaking News: Black men, boys commit most crime in Chicago.
Chicago black men and boys shoot black men and boys.
If you count all casualties a victims, that is 262 "LEO victims" over a span of five years, or 52.4 per year - or, approximately one (1) LEO "victim" per week.
FWIW, that also means that 143 (~1/3 of) LEO shootings injured no one.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the number of shootings victims this year -- as of AUG. 27, 2016 (239 days) was 2,739. That's a rate of ~11.5 shootings per day -- or 80 shooting victims per week!
~~~~~~~~
At a rate of 1.25% of the shootings per week, I don't see LEO shootings as the #1 problem to solve in Chicago!
Besides, as we say here in Texas, "A bunch of them folks jes' needed shootin!"
WATER FOUND IN RIVER!!
It doesn’t matter without more information. Were the people shot dangerously threatening the Police people’s lives? If they weren’t you can be sure it would have been national news. It may likely be that this large number of the criminal types who end up causing a police person to kill them are the ones at fault, not the police.
3 percent commit 50 percent of crimes,,
Huh
If you have to shoot, you have to shoot. There’s no choosing the target beforehand
“In the early very 80s I realized that AFDC was going to destroy the black family and thus black communities.”
I realized the same thing, but for me it was much less visible, because I was still living there. Being inside the community, I was intimately aware of a host of disabling maladies the black community was suffering from.
Gangsta culture was rising, street drugs were becoming more rampant, welfare dependency was increasing, the Carter economy had created more joblessness, Hispanic immigrants were just beginning to displace black people from their neighborhoods, schools were beginning to resemble federal detention facilities, and on and on.
It seemed to me, at the time, that the whole culture was being destroyed from too many angles to count. I couldn’t tell which angle was most responsible for the collapse.
In 1982, I packed my bags and left for good. I fled what seemed to me, to be a social holocaust, which I didn’t want any part of. Looking back, I know I did the right thing for myself and my future children.
And it’s all By Design, sad.
It is the magic underwear that makes the differnce!
What did they say?
Yes you did!!! When children are raised without a married father and mother in the home, their chances for a decent life are very slim. I read a study that showed children whose parents were married but their mothers were widowed still did MUCH better than children whose mothers were single to start with. The widowed mothers still had “Father” in the home in the form of (sometimes) memories, photos, stories of Daddy, grandparents, etc. To the children of single mothers, there is no Daddy at all. For the government to actuallly foster this, is criminal insanity.
“And its all By Design, sad.”
Many black people believe this, but are convinced that it’s the political right that’s to blame.
When they discover they’ve had it backwards, and that it’s the political left who are responsible for the destruction of their people, they move right with a speed and sureness that would amaze you.
furthermore, someone please define "boys"???....are "boys?...14 or 15 or 19?..
are these "boys" the same like our dear Trayvon the 12 yro angel face little boy..
If Black men/boys were not the primary violent offenders, who resisted officers and pointed guns at them, they wouldn’t be the most shot by Chicago police. The truth is, the majority of black gunshot victims in Chicago are shot by black criminals
Eye-witness accounts are good.
Yes they do. What I have found is that in any circumstance, there are often multiple causes that sum together to produce the result. It is also my habit to put forth multiple theories in an effort to explain a phenomena. Some causes have more effect on the result than others.
Im black.
I remember that. There are several Black freepers, and I am pleased to make your and their acquaintance.
When I was a young child living in an all black area of Los Angeles, every house I knew of, was two parent, they were home owners, and most had late model cars in the driveway. Dad was the sole breadwinner, and the schools were peaceful centers of learning where discipline was practiced, accepted, and expected.
Scouting was popular, as well as organized sports.
LBJ put an end to that.
And this is a point I mention often. I have a long term acquaintance/friend that is libertarian. He is constantly trying to convince myself and others that the spike in incarceration which occurred in the late seventies was caused by Nixon's "War on Drugs", and I am constantly trying to convince him that no, the problem began when the US Government started subsidizing fatherless households.
It is the absence of a father that would otherwise teach young children discipline and respect that has caused the massive spike in crime which started about 1978.
Young males growing up without the restraint on their behavior that a father would impose, turn feral. They go back to a "Lord of the Rings" style of behavior.
THIS is, in my opinion, the primary cause of violence in the poor inner cities. (and everywhere else as well.) Not only does the absence of a father tend to favor children acting out violently, but it also tends to keep them poor.
No one shows them how to get ahead. No one teaches them skills or needed life lessons.
So what do we do about it? Well, the first thing we do is stop subsidizing fatherless families.
But you and I both know that is never going to happen. It is politically impossible.
