My hubby has a finch feeder and we get some that have pinkish-red breasts. Have no clue what kind they are. But they don’t stay long.
I do ignore their ways and just enjoy their cam views and their knowledge.
After the great blue heron nest was blown out of the tree in the middle of the pond at Cornell, I was afraid that would be it for the beautiful pond views. But they set up a couple of cams outside the ornithology lab, which is next to the pond, and we get to enjoy the views year-round. LOTS of birds and critters around the pond.
And they sponsor cams all over the country on nests of various types of birds. Cornell is how I first met Momma and Dad great horned owl and their adorable babies. :-)
I also have loved watching Harriet and M15 From FL
Thank you~! Off to bed now, court comes early
I HAVE we 8.1. Despite everything MS said, they claim that they are going to put WE 11 & 11+ out soon.
Result: You Are a Mourning Dove!
Mourning Dove?
Heck, I'm a Morning person! :-)
Unlike SOME people around here, Heh-Heh!
It was a shame the ospreys showed up so late and never had their own family to watch them raise. But they sure did fix up that nest for Momma! LOL! What a surprise it’ll be when she and Dad show up in January.
Thanks for reminding me about the FL eagles. I always forget that they start early and miss all the pre-egg laying action. I’ll stick the cam link in Favorites tonight. All links are in a Word doc for swapping out throughout the year. Time to delete the storks from Faves since they’ve pretty much all headed out for migration.
LOL! I can’t see myself being a “morning” anything!
Mourning doves have such a soothing call. We have them here mixed in with all the other doves. Dove season at my house could be a big deal...but 1) we’re in the city limits, 2) I can’t stand wild bird meat, and 3) I couldn’t stand to kill one.
There is a rival pair of eagles that hang out on the cell tower and they are making Harriet and M nervous and on alert a lot!
Yeah, I saw that in the text under the video. Hope the rivals find another spot they like soon so Harriet and M can relax and get down to the business at hand.
In late, hanging with son!
Just some grocery shopping for me and cooler weather!
Hope your day was grand!
Indeed...me too. They have a nest to rebuild before having babies. :)
Result: You Are a Peregrine Falcon!
Hey there, PRO! Was wondering where you were tonight. Thought you might be sitting there ready to sneak in and snag that #50. LOL
You and your son been saving the world again this evening?
Great you’re enjoying cooler weather. Your heat must have moved down here because it’s hot again. *sigh*
Ran a couple of errands before visiting Aunt Clara this afternoon. Stopped by the grocery store for milk and ended up spending an hour there. LOL Ran into a friend I hadn’t seen in quite a while and chatted for a bit. As he was leaving, another friend who’s a state representative walked in and we talked TN politics for a while.
A good day overall.
I guess nest rebuilding down there is something those birds are used to. They get some strong thunderstorms and those are hard on nests.
I wish a pair of eagles would build a nest in our woods. They fly over the farm occasionally but none have ever chosen to nest here.
Then again, with all our cats, it’s probably better they don’t nest here. We have enough trouble with coyotes.
...a rare and handsome bird! :)
It would be nice but your cats don’t need to become eagle food for sure!
We don’t have eagles here....I’ve only seen one in the wild near St. Louis once long ago. :(
Oh...and one at the Grand Canyon when I went with some FReepers. We do have hawks though.
Nope, we don’t want them to become eagle dinner.
Bummer you don’t have eagles but they do like high trees for their nests. Trees can’t get tall in the desert.
We have eagles, owls, hawks, herons, all kinds of cool birds around here. And LOTS of Canada geese year-round. Guess they decided they didn’t like the cold so much. LOL
What the heck? Why not?
