Man upset after niece brings home waiver to ‘be excused from reciting’ Pledge

A Florida man is upset after his niece brought home a Pledge of Allegiance waiver that asked parents to sign and return the form if they’d like their child to “be excused from reciting” it.

It read:

“I understand my rights as a parent and I request that my child, noted above, be excused from reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. This request includes standing and placing his/her right hand over his/her heart.”

In frustration, Micah Brienen took to Facebook last Thursday.

“My niece brought this home from school today…What is happening to our country?!?” he said in the post.

Brienen’s sister-in-law returned the form with her daughter, writing the following in response:

“This is the dumbest thing I have ever read and I am so ashamed of this.”

The post has been shared more than 13,400 times.

Several days later, Brienen followed up his initial post with one asking his friends to contact the school’s superintendent about the issue and letting them know that he is up for reelection.

What is happening to our country?!?” he said in the post.

libtards want a one world secular humanist government with no sovereign nations and no borders.

I’ve read that a couple of times and still don’t understand what he’s upset about.

Apparently, he wants it to be mandatory for other peoples' kids to adhere to his version of patriotism.

Unfortunately for him, SCOTUS decided this decades ago.

Muslim immigrants relocating to America must not pledge allegiance to our flag. They are submitted only to Allah. This is what Trump is talking about.

9th Circus: http://news.findlaw.com/hdocs/docs/religion/newdowus91405opn.pdf

To the contrary:
“The case against the Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District had been brought by a student of the district and the American Humanist Association that argued that the phrase “under God” in the pledge created a climate of discrimination because it promoted religion, making non-believers “second-class citizens.”
“In a twenty-one page decision, Bauman wrote, “Under (the association members’) reasoning, the very constitution under which (the members) seek redress for perceived atheistic marginalization could itself be deem unconstitutional, an absurd proposition which (association members) do not and cannot advance here.”
“Bauman said the student could skip the pledge, but upheld a New Jersey law that says pupils must recite the pledge unless they have “conscientious scruples” that do not allow it. He noted; “As a matter of historical tradition, the words ‘under God’ can no more be expunged from the national consciousness than the words ‘In God We Trust’ from every coin in the land, than the words ‘so help me God’ from every presidential oath since 1789, or than the prayer that has opened every congressional session of legislative business since 1787.” wikipedia

I believe the other objection of the left and its atheist constituents, and their mozlim members for that matter, to the Pledge is acknowledging that this nation is a Republic; otherwise it is difficult to justify half the country in harness pulling the other half riding in the wagon.

As judge Bauman points out above, there is a disturbing logical contradiction where a plaintiff can use the Constitution to undermine the Constitution.
I think we will see a push by such groups to continue this line of attack on religious freedom if Her Heinous manages to steal the election in a couple months.

Patriots beware!

I’m certainly not going to stop anybody from reciting the PoA. But noting that a Christian socialist wrote the pledge, when you actually stop and consider some of the wording of the pledge, you will question if it is actually pro-big federal government, anti-state sovereignty propaganda.

More specifically, contrary to the terms “one Nation” and “indivisible,” Thomas Jefferson had written that foreign nations should regard the United States as one nation while the states were to regard themselves as individual nations.

"The true theory of our Constitution is surely the wisest and best, that the States are independent as to everything within themselves, and united as to everything respecting foreign nations." --Thomas Jefferson to Gideon Granger, 1800.

Given the passion for the pledge that patriots instill in their children, it’s no surprise that states are now nothing more than neighborhoods in the USA, the states unthinkingly bowing down to the federal government which they established, forgetting that Founding States had drafted the federal Constitution to deliberatly limit (cripple) its powers.

"I’ve read that a couple of times and still don’t understand what he’s upset about. If he wants her to say the pledge, just don’t sign and return the waiver."

Read my tag line, the famous quote by Edmund Burke, and then rethink your statement. The primary reason our country is going down the drain is actually not the progressives trying to destroy it, but rather the decent people who shrug off every progressive attack just so that they don't have to ever take action in response. To those for whom defending America has become inconvenient, I say you're not American in any true sense of the word.

Here’s my take on it: If someone did not want their child to recite the Pledge, that person should send in a request to the school asking for the child to be excused.

For the school to send something home is putting in backwards, as if encouraging people to opt their kids our of the Pledge.

Does the school pass out the same note for the kids to be excused from mandatory diversity training? Or deviant sex education class? Or “Gay is OK” class? Or participating in community organizer activities? Or being forced to watch Al Gore’s Global Warming BS movies?

And what about school choice? It would seem to me that would solve the ongoing problem of liberal initiatives.

Send the forms home; collect the names of those who want their children excused; deport those who are not natural born citizens. Do you mean this wasn’t the intent?

I doubt very seriously, he initiated that policy. It was handed to him by a school board that probably had it handed down to them from officials that thought it was a swell idea, and must be implemented nationwide or violate some new interpretation of the U. S. Constitution.

I’m not fan of our school leadership these days, but someone at the national level is driving this.

This nation is going to look so much different this time next year. A lost of this crap is going to be unenforced starting day one.

It was within my life experience; it doesn't surprise me that it might have been earlier.

Imagine: an America where you could have a religious exemption from the rest of the herd in a government school. Wow.

From your lips to God’s ears! But these “school administrators” (the country’s highest-paid migrant workers) are for the mostpart all in with this $hit. You and I sure as hell didn’t grow up with school officials who acted like this turd.

I agree, there is a certain tendency, a rather distasteful tendency among posters here to conflate conservatism with fascism.

It was very apparent in the manufactured outrage over that gymnast who stood respectfully, eyes forward, facing the flag, hands clasped before her as the Star-Spangled Banner was played, she was apparently “disrespecting” the flag by not holding her hand over her heart.

Tinpot fascist regimes force their citizens to be uber-patriots, screaming abuse at those who don’t comply with their hyper levels of nationalist fervour. If the United States means anything it means that government officials cannot force you to say something that you don’t particularly want to say.

And yes that includes the Pledge of Allegiance, it’s not Holy Writ.

The flag stands for all the people of the 50 states...NOT the government.

I don't care whether or not the government wants her declare her patriotism. If the little bitch hates her fellow Americans so much, then maybe she should get the hell out. Same for the queer moslem.

Do I take it personally? Hell yeah.

Did they also bring home one to be excused from transgender indoctrination? I did not think so. (Guessing at your answer here.)

Were parents offered a form to notify the school that they have instructed their children they are not to enter any multi-user transgender rest rooms?

I agree, but remember what society was like back then.

You didn’t have open insurrection back then.

We essentially do now on a number of fronts.

The various instigator franchises will go dormant again for a period of time. Hopefully we’ll be smarter this time and defund, devise, and deviate their plans to the point they won’t eveyr be able to get back to this point again.

Trump won’t mince words with them. He’ll tell them exactly what he thinks of them, and have his Justice Department take legal measures to destroy their networks.

Frankly, I’d love for him to start with Soros and company.
