Populist right-wing AfD party co-leader Frauke Petry has encouraged Germans to carry firearms. She claims the government has lost its state monopoly to protect the public, especially in thinly populated areas.
Petry, who caused an uproar January by suggesting German police could use firearms to deter incoming refugees, on Saturday called into question Germany's policing and stringent gun ownership law in the wake of deadly attacks last month.
There were no grounds for concern when citizens armed themselves for self-protection in areas where austerity measures by national and regional governments had “systematically ruined” police services, Petry told the Funke Media Group based in Essen.
“Every law-abiding person should be in the position to protect himself, his family and his friends,” Petry said. …

Look, we have the RKBA here in the US and it doesn’t stop terror attacks. It will not stop Sharia Law Zones, it will not stop immigration of refugees from terrorist sponsor nations, some of which will be radical jihadists.

Northern Europeans are better armed than most think.
According to a 2007 survey cited by wiki, gun ownership in Germany, France, Netherlands, Norway and Sweden is just over 30 guns per 100 residents. This compares to 45 guns/100 residents in Switzerland and 112/100 for the US.
I suspect the absolute numbers in the survey are low, but if the ratios are in the ballpark, northern Europeans are 2/3 as well armed as the Swiss.

A DW article linked to this story was about how that “insane” Irano-German that murdered those kids at the mall last month got his gun. Even though he was crazy, he still managed to buy a Glock and ammunition in the dark web. They caught the seller trying to sell some other weapons.
The crazy kid paid over 4,500 euros for that, but the thing is, all the gun laws in Germany couldn’t stop a nutjob from getting a gun. Imagine how much easier it would be for a sane terrorist to get one, something no lib in any country will admit.
