He was one of this country's most notorious serial killers, tying up, torturing, and murdering 10 people in the city of Wichita from 1974 until he was arrested in 2004.
And now it has been revealed that Dennis Rader, who dubbed himself the BTK killer for his method of 'bind, torture, kill', had planned an 11th killing but was caught before he could carry it out.
Rader says he had picked out a woman to be his 'magnum opus' and planned to mutilate her in her own home before hanging her upside down and burning the place to the ground.

Why is this man still alive?
His lawyers are still looking for a technicality.
He wouldn’t even be in prison if he could have just kept quiet, but the attention whore just had to start mailing more letters bragging about everything nearly two decades later.
It’s strange how long he went between murders.
It was a CD that he sent to the police that was his undoing. Forensics on the disk revealed erased documents from a local church which provided the link to Rader.
if we can't execute them, then we should banish them completely so their names or their faces are never seen again....
There is no question of his guilt so why shouldn’t he be executed? Also why is he being allowed to communicate with anyone? He should be in solitary 24/7 with no contact with any human being.
Reminds me of the ORIGINAL ending of the movie MANHUNTER.
After the killer “The Tooth Fairy” is dead in the shootout, the “profiler” (Petersen) visits a family, accidentally scares the wife with her child, is interdicted by the husband with a .45, then explains who he is.
He was just checking up on what would have been the next victims of the serial killer, (or was he going to carry on the Tooth Fairy’s work).
This scene was shown in the movie on SHOWTIME about twenty five years ago. It has since been cut.

Petersen had difficulty ridding himself of the Will Graham character after principal photography wrapped. While rehearsing for a play in Chicago, he felt the old character “always coming out” instead of his new role.
At first he felt it was due to the rigorous shooting schedule for Manhunter, but later realized that the character “had creeped in”.[7]
That’s what I want to know
I teach criminal justice courses at the college level, my speciality is computer crime. I’ve seen and read things that are very hard to handle emotionally, but that’s my job.
I tried to read John Douglas’s book on Rader and I just couldn’t do it. This guy is one really sick b@stard. What made him so dangerous was that he had so much control over his sick needs that he could hold off killing for years. But when he did, it was horrific.
At lest he’s rotting in jail until he meets his maker. Too kind, but eventually he’ll face justice.
For some reason, I thought BTK had been killed in prison. Guess not. Too bad.
That is unusual for serial killers. I'm sure that the investigators carefully reviewed his whereabouts during that lull to make sure that there weren't victims elsewhere.
I actually heard this piece of rancid fecal matter claim that he's "really not a bad guy." There is absolutely no reason why Rader should be consuming oxygen that someone else could breath.
He may of murdered those people but whether he intended to is unclear.
Just looking at that guy screams weakling, who could have the crap kicked out of him by just about any teen-aged boy, much less a strong man.
Too bad the nasty little bitch wasn’t confronted before the police got him.
a relative of a relative by marriage was one of his victims. It affected that branch of the family.
He is still breathing why? He should be put down now.
You’re probably thinking of that homosexual who was famous for eating the body parts of his victims. I won’t mention his name because serial killers should not be given the notoriety they desire.
I agree. Hang his sorry hide.
