Time for a Ted Cruz reboot, as poll shows Republicans down on him since his snub of Trump
The Dallas Morning News ^ | August 19, 2016 | Todd J. Gillman

Ted Cruz's image among Republicans had plummeted to a personal low by the Indiana primary — the defeat that forced him from the GOP presidential contest.

But he may wish for those heady days of May now...

Potential GOP rivals are probing for weakness ahead of Cruz's bid for a second term in 2018. That includes House Homeland Security Chairman Michael McCaul of Austin. The former federal prosecutor is the second wealthiest member of the U.S. House, with access to a family fortune topping $100 million, though he has no obvious base of support to overcome the tea partyers still plenty in thrall of Cruz.

Dryly assessing Cruz's tenure in the Senate, McCaul said Wednesday that he'd "spent a lot of time running for president..."

For 14 months, Cruz spent precious little time in Texas as he stoked the flames of his White House ambitions.

Rick Perry is interested in the position and I would go for him.

Tea Partiers still like him? Why?

I dont care how conservative or brilliant he is, he’s a traitor and a weasel (that’s an insult to weasels) and he’s DONE.

Wish I could vote in Texas

Cruz's feisty, defiant, ideologically pure approach made him polarizing from his earliest weeks in Washington, though the same moves that alienated insiders made him a hero to many voters.

I didn't mind that NEARLY as much as the horse pucky he tried to sell for his votes on Corker and TPP.

As the saying goes "don't piss on my leg, then tell me it's raining."

Only Jesus keeping his life and marriage together.

Father, have mercy.

Ted Cruz promised, in writing, and in public, to support the nominee of the Republican Party for President of the United States. When he didn’t actually endorse the nominee of the Republican Party for President of the United States, he demonstrated that “Lyin’ Ted” may have been one of those hurtful things Donald Trump apologized for saying, but it was extremely accurate.

Mark Levin just loves Cruz. Mark’s hatred of Trump and anyone who supports him is hard to hear. I just don’t listen to him anymore.

Good. Rick Perry’s gonna take that seat, and Cruz will be selling National Review cruises.

Politically, Ashley Cruz is as dead as JFK
after Oswald and Daddy Cruz blew his head apart.

Only Jesus keeping his life and marriage together.

May Jesus succeed. His kids are adorable.

As for his political future ... it will be up to him to be useful and vote-worthy.

Posted by someone who voted for Cruz in the primary but will be voting for the Donald in November!

And who scorns the purists who vote on "principle".

Mark Levin? I’m shocked. Only know the name and what I’ve read here plus have seen him on hannity i think.

Conservative lost a lot of meaning when George the #### Will walked away.

We need a new name!!

Conservative has turned out to be another word for elite, wealthy low wage one world govt folk.

Republican isn’t even a word anymore :)

Constitution party? That would be nice.

He voted yes on TPA. The understanding of it for the voting public, IOW the people for whom he works, was that it gave away pur sovereignty. He offered no explanation

It was reminiscent of McCain going against tge constitution on the campaign vote

No explanation just a lot of fast talk.

Ted Cruz was finished at that point. I told a fundraiser who called my house. He was done at that point

And he was. He never gained traction

Now he’s talking about rebooting.

Only democrat voters will vote in the presence of lying and corruption

Anti American games

He sneeringly calls Trump supporters Trumpeteers (he believes we are blindly in lock step). His obvious disdain for those voting and supporting Trump is so vile it’s difficult to hear. I suppose he would rather that Hillary win than see Trump be successful. In part, I think he think so highly of himself that he is angered that not all of his listeners are blindly accepting every pearl that falls from his lips as gospel. In other words, he accuses Trump supporters of being in lockstep without recognizing the irony that he demands the same of his own listeners. He sounds childish and spoiled. I no longer take him seriously, and I’m sad about it.

I recall that guy, Fred Cruz, from the primary. Something about there was some crap on his lip, and then he lost and his dad was arrested for being a cult leader or something.

I thought Fred Cruz was not alive anymore - didn’t drink toxic koolaid or something in, what was it? Goyawnuh or Geehana, Cuba or someplace in a mass suicide led by some guy who, yeah, that’s right, I think it was his same dad guy or something.

Well, I guess I am glad Fred Cruz is still alive and not dead like the other cult members. He needs help, though.

But isn’t this all old news? The Fred Cruz guy? I mean, interesting in an exotic way, but sort of creepy.

Cruz is a weasel who can’t be trusted. He waffled once about honoring his pledge to support the Republican candidate saying, at the time, the convention had not happened and there was no official candidate. That was his pre-waffle before his full-on outrageous speech at the convention and his total disregard for the signed pledge.

Cruz is the kind of lawyer who gives lawyers a bad name.

“Rick Perry is interested in the position and I would go for him.”

Rick Perry is an honorable guy, unlike Cruz.
