Hmmmm. Perhaps when you've been caught lying too many times, some folks with still functioning brains are reluctant to buy your load of crap.

It would help if there were any scientific evidence that gun ownership and climate change are dangerous.

Hmmm, ‘twould appear that psychologists are at the bottom of med school classes, just as climate “scientists” are at the bottom of elementary school science education classes.

I used to think that Communist Totalitarianism was not possible without government force. That deeming dissenters to be mentally ill and forcing them into psychiatric hospitals, or investing a huge amount of effort to control how people think, was something that would not happen without the state actively making it happen. Today, I’ve come to realize that a certain segment of the population wants to do these things whether the state is forcing them to or not. Hence, we have Psychology Today, an ostensibly “independent” publication, talking about conditioning peoples’ minds to accept gun control as if it was Pravda or one of Goebbels’ propaganda films.

Either way you are asking people to submit to bondage.

They are both based on liberal lies.

These people would probably need weeks of therapy had they visited my great uncle’s farmhouse back about 1979, when I used to visit there as a kid and he kept his guns in the living area. I would look at and touch them (under adult supervision, of course) and no eyebrows were raised at all.

Empiricism only seems to support these theses if you are looking, as it were, through a keyhole. The big picture does not support them at all.

“Psychology Today equated persuading minds to support gun control with persuading minds to support arguments for climate change.”

I agree. Weak, intellectually-dishonest and lazy minds similarly fall for gun control as they do for “climate change.”

Persuading people to believe lies is called ‘brainwashing’.

Well, the arguments for Gore-Bull Warming are all hot air.
I guess that means the same is true for the arguments for gun control.

Propaganda only works on weak minds.

People finally saw that smoking is not healthy for most people and that those who don't smoke really don't like the stench. Quitting good for you and your family and friends. Hard to stop but it made sense to a lot of smokers.

Global warming? Most people are NOT persuaded. One argument is that even if true, warm is better than cool for most plants and animals. They haven't been affected by GW, either, other than if the EPA destroyed their job or raise prices on some items.

Guns. Good for good guys, bad for bad guys. A recent article mentioned research that CCW people are the most law-abiding people. There are more good guys than bad guys, so it makes a lot of sense for the good guys have guns.

Propaganda = advertising.

When you have something that human beings do not naturally, instinctively need or want, you have to resort to Madison Avenue hard sell to get them to buy it.

re: “persuading minds to support gun control with persuading minds to support arguments for climate change”

As long as there is A human being who thinks it is fun to play the bash the old geezer game, I will refuse a conversation on gun control.

It is Science that states for the record that ONE eruption of A volcano, in one day, emits more greenhouse gases than ALL the human population does in one year. Therefore, the idea that climate change is man-made is a fallacy, and not open for discussion, unless the climate change krewe can make a physical plug to place atop every volcano on Earth.

As of 14:56 CDT, 08/19/2016, there are 6 volcanoes in eruptive phases, today.
(That’s six years worth, just today, for the folks in Rio Linda.)
