I used to think that Communist Totalitarianism was not possible without government force. That deeming dissenters to be mentally ill and forcing them into psychiatric hospitals, or investing a huge amount of effort to control how people think, was something that would not happen without the state actively making it happen. Today, I’ve come to realize that a certain segment of the population wants to do these things whether the state is forcing them to or not. Hence, we have Psychology Today, an ostensibly “independent” publication, talking about conditioning peoples’ minds to accept gun control as if it was Pravda or one of Goebbels’ propaganda films.

“or investing a huge amount of effort to control how people think, “ US Government has a relatively new project running out of the White House- The Office Of Behavioral Science, which grew out of the Cass Sundstein (sp?) idea of an Office of Nudge. They are actively using techniques to influence how we think.

And it was Eric Holder who said the path to eliminating firearms was massive propaganda, so that an entire generation would grow up conditioned to flee if the word “gun” was even hinted at.

The Leftist is drawn to centralized organizations: the government, the university, et cetera - anything that will simultaneously allow him to indulge his conceit of superior education and morality, and allow him to exercise control over those he deems less worthy.

One reason we rightists tend to lose the fight in the long run (besides the pervasive truth of the spiritual entropy of original Sin) is that we are mostly in the private sector producing something greater and other than mere propaganda.
