This is the first proof-positive that Trump might be in trouble, and I am a Trump fanatic.
Hey Laz....did you forget the “/s” tag?
Except that there are legitimate reasons for the departure. His expertise more primary than general election weighted and his Russia issue.
Interesting take, Laz. Since Conway and Bannon took over I’ve had only positive thoughts about the campaign and Trump. Manafort is a pro, but I think Conway and Bannon get the mood and the feeling of the country. I don’t know that Manafort does- his strengths seem more practical, while Bannon’s are more anti-corruption anti-status quo. Perfect for Trump.

No, it’s proof positive that it’s a good move toward a win.
He’s cutting the foreign agent MSM meme short because he’s going to hammer Hillary on foreign money and favors in ads. The MSM would parry with “they all do it” and “hypocrite” if Manafort were still there...not too mention keep up the Russian bogeyman for the coming hack revelations - tying Putin to Trump as ridiculous as that is.
Manafort will not be calling the shots now and I don’t think he’s the kind of guy to ride along while others do call them. For both of these reasons, he’s leaving - probably on his own advice.
Good to do the hatchet work before Labor Day, things will get white hot after.
The only campaigns we have ever known have been run by and for political insiders and politicians. Mr. Trump is running his own campaign from the perspective of a political outsider who is also an extraordinarily successful businessman. IMO, of course.
I think the first proof positive is the current polls, Trump is down in most swing states he must have. Bush's old press secretary from the FIVE was on BOR last night, like her or hate her she is right, Trump is down in the polls. It's not too late, his last 3 speeches were great, he needs to raise gazillions and advertise and he needs to do great in the debates. But, he needs to make up ground.
I don’t think so.
I think that the Ukraine connection was used against Manafort and then he was gone.
Did the Ukraine connection appear as a media talking point before or after the announcement about Kelly Ann Conway?
Yeah, Trump really doesn’t want to win. Got it.
I read every response on this thread and no one approaches the timeline aspect of this resignation.
Media: Manafort gets “demoted” as new consultants are brought in.
Note that the org-chart of Conway/Bannon/Manafort was not revealed (AKA: Who reports to whom), just Titles.
Cletus’s Speculation:
The media is already humming with some sort of “foreign consulting” gig involving Russia. After the campaign settles in, Manafort starts getting feelers and requests for the up-coming Sunday media circus. The media-idiots will tell him they want to ask about the “reorg” and what his “new” role will be. But...Manafort and Trump both know they will bring up the Ukraine on a pivot.
After talking to the boss, Manafort resigns and lets the boss know that he won’t be on any of the Sunday shows this weekend.
