Ryan Lochte, the US gold medal-winning swimmer, who claimed to have been robbed at gunpoint in Rio de Janiero, has been ordered by a judge to remain in the country amid suggestions that they may have fabricated the incident. Federal police in Brazil stopped US team-mates Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger from boarding a flight to the United States at Rio de Janeiro's international airport on Wednesday, O Globo newspaper reported on its website. The swimmers, who were with Lochte during the alleged robbery, were taken off the plane for questioning, the newspaper said. Lochte, 32, one of the most decorated swimmers in Olympic history, left the country shortly before a judge ordered the confiscation of his passport amid a growing mystery about the alleged attack. A Brazilian judge issued an order on Wednesday to prevent their team-mates Ryan Lochte and James Feigen from leaving Brazil while police investigate their account of how the four US swimmers were robbed at gunpoint on Sunday. Police said they had further questions for him about the robbery after finding "little evidence" that it had taken place.

Wow! Swimmer Jimmy Feegen never showed up at the airport. Sounds like he knew law enforcement was looking for him.
No, you’re partially right.
He’ll fork over $400 million.
They’ll get nuclear weapons.
We may or may not get the girls back.
No wonder the escaped Nazis found such a welcome home in Brazil.
The point is they were detain in Brazil.
He could have purchased another wallet.
And the U.S. consulate in Rio de Janeiro would have issued him a new passport under the circumstances.
Lochte was on the evening news and he said the story is exactly what happened....he and his friends went out drinking and were robbed. He made it clear there were no prostitutes.
It is a hot mess. How can we continue to participate in these “Games” under these circumstances? All US participants should leave Brazil immediately. I hope I’m not very far ahead of actuality!
I don’t like what Brazil is doing here, don’t like it at all. It’s so 3rd World country-like. Screw Brazil. Of course Obama will pay ransom to get the swimmers out of there. All these countries are on to us, how to milk us for money. And Obama will once again oblige.
A real President would have the response “The bombing begins in 5 minutes”
Need to send down Blabbermouth Schultz. A half hour with her and they will gladly release them just to get rid of her.
Trump should go rescue them :o)
Bob Costa made some statements a few minutes ago which indicate that perhaps they were doing something they shouldn’t have been doing and are not “being forthcoming” about the incident. Once again our lame stream is bashing U.S. athletes. Probably doesn’t help that all these guys are Caucasian either.
“I believe the swimmers, and think the video is not from the night in question.”
Bingo. Exactly what I thought. Take a video from a previous night and edit the time stamp if there is one.
If I were President: “Release our athletes that you are detaining to cover up your pathetic Third World status or my SEALs will get them. And you die.”
Pretty much what I’d expect Trump to say.
The LSM and other leftscum would have kittens, but the athletes would be released immediately.
Of course Obama won’t do anything.
I think you’re on to something. If the athletes have enough cash to grease a few palms they may be on their way back. It may take a bank transfer from home.
Welcome to the 2016 “Low Rent” Olympics.
What does a robbery (whether true or not) have to do with winning a gold medal in a swimming competition?
No; just SOP south of the Us/Mexico border, and Rio is way south of the border.
Why the FK would he lie? He’s in BRAZIL, a THIRD WORLD S#$( HOLE. I’ll give him the BENEFIT of the DOUBT. I BET IT WAS REAL COPS THAT ROBBED HIM.
You can report yours lost or stolen, get a new one and keep the old one hidden. You’re probably in trouble if authorities in any country find you in possession of both.
