1st CD, Republican: Incumbent Paul Ryan, of Janesville, and Paul Nehlen, of Williams Bay.
I absolutely have nothing on this election, so I thought I'd start a thread, and we can add to it as information comes in. Some polls have Ryan way ahead, and a few find it less certain. On the other hand, wasn't this the climate before the Cantor election? He was sitting fat dumb and happy with a big lead in the polls?
If I were a betting man, I'd have to put my money on Ryan and by all counts, he's a very popular guy up there, but then again, so is Obama.
They are good at it.
Well we’re about to tear their playhouse down.
I’m not in the first congressional district, but here are some of the issues.....Ryan is still clearly the favorite according to polls. Aside from blasting Ryan, Nehlen didn’t advance many of his ideas other than to talk about immigration. No offense, but to people who live in the frozen tundra of Wisconsin, nobody thinks about the Mexican border that much, nor do they worry about how it’ll affect their jobs. They’re much more in tune with local taxes, how much money the democrats have spent in Wisconsin and that sort of thing. I just don’t think Nehlen ever understood he needed to talk about things other than immigration. It just hasn’t resonated and as a result, he’s not a great candidate. And now I’ll wait for all those people to tell me what a good ‘businessman’ he is, working for some firm based out of state that has a regional office in Beaver Dam, or that he moved back here to run against Ryan...but a local person with more presence in the first congressional district probably would’ve been a better choice.
Indeed. I’m ashamed that I supported him. I felt desperate....too much so, as I look back. :(
After Cantor’s loss the RINOs have learned to do whatever it takes to win their primary. I don’t think we’ll ever see a Brat repeat.
Now the general election is a different matter and I wish there had been some attempt to run conservatives against the worse RINOs, like Ryan, in the General.

He endorsed Ryan tepidly......without any heart.
He graciously informed Nehlen, and Nehlen graciously acquiesced.
I believe the polls close at 8pm and we will be able to see the results here -

Hairy’s replacement could be worse, if that’s possible.
That’s 8 pm Central, 9 Eastern, 7 Mountain and 6 Pacific!
It will be Chuckie Schumer, the gun grabber.
That's how the Republican party's been doing things of late, just consider the past few presidential elections: 2000: OMG, we can't let Gore get elected! Vote Bush!
2004: OMG, we can't let Kerry get elected! Vote Bush!
2008: OMG, we can't let Obama get elected! Vote McCain! (Really!? John McCain, trampler of the constitution McCain?)
2012: OMG, we can't let Obama get reelected! Vote Romney! (Really!? Obama's white-clone Romney!?)
Thankfully in 2016 Trump shook things up, preventing ¡OMG, we can't let Hillary get elected! ¡Vote JEB!
although you could see them trying to angle Cruz in after Jeb's defeat.
(He's the only one who can beat Hillary!
)
Neylan was on the radio this morning and couldn’t or wouldn’t answer the questions of the talk radio host Jay Weber.
I expect him to lose by a wide margin.
neylen has a poor record of voting in regular elections.
Do you recall what the questions were?
Were they important questions or the average stupid ones?
Right, there are mostly white working class in Wisconsins factories still. An anomaly for sure. Tattoos, beer, and deer. Thats what they know. And packers of course.
It's a known unknown. Something we don't know that we know we don't know.
