The Texas senators decision to not endorse the GOP nominee is looking pretty good right now.
WASHINGTON Immediately after Sen. Ted Cruz walked offstage at the GOP convention in Cleveland last month without endorsing Donald Trump, the Texas conservative and former presidential primary rival appeared to have made a grave miscalculation. (snip)
But after a week of Trump repeatedly setting himself on fire (declining even to wait for the previous fire to go out), politicians who endorsed Trump, such as House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), have found themselves feeling the heat, while Cruzs decision is starting to look like the better long-term bet. The panic within the party spread so much last week that several high-profile Trump supporters reportedly began contemplating staging an intervention with the candidate.
And Cruz, in rare fashion, has let the fire rage without adding his own gasoline. Hes doing a remarkable job staying quiet and letting people come to that conclusion on their own, said Amanda Carpenter, a longtime adviser to Cruz.
While those close to Cruz were confident the decision not to endorse would be the right one in the end, the quickness with which its panning out has been a bit of a surprise. Trump blew his own convention. While predictable, it still boggles the mind it happened, Carpenter said. Trump is like a tornado. You know its going to be devastating when it rips through your house but the aftermath is still shocking.
Cruz is well-positioned for a 2020 presidential bid should he succeed in resuscitating his image he took home nearly 600 delegates this cycle with the aid of an impressive grassroots organization. (snip)

Ted Cruz pledged to the Republican voting base, not once but twice, that he would support the GOP nominee. Ted Cruz lied, Ted Cruz’s word mean nothing. He is a very small man with big character issues. That he rather see Hillary win so he’s got a shot in 2020 means he is not a conservative and he is not a patriot. He is a disgusting man. However should he win his upcoming primary, I will vote to keep his Senate seat in GOP hands.
BARTENDER: Good evening senator Cruz. You look a bit down.
CRUZ: Oh, it’s just those FReepers are calling me a douchebag.
BARTENDER: Well here, let me buy you a drink ... what’ll it be?
CRUZ: Oh, alright. I’ll have a vinegar and water.
Frankly, I believe Cruz and Kasich are a lot closer on many things than we were led to believe.
Ted is a smoke and mirrors guy, very slippery.
Agreed. Benedict Cruz was semi-convincing in his faux-Defender of the Constitution pose, until it became clear that he was using the Constitution only for the expedient purpose of advancing his own political career. He was and remains GOPe all the way, and is not to be trusted. He has no honor.
At least with Trump your second group has a chance, with Hillary, there is zero chance of any reform.
I agree with that also.
I’ve been here since 2004, and very active, lots of pinglists for lots of causes. Never encountered you before this election. We all need to be clear in print. :-)
Go, Trump!
LMAO !
I agree that you two should agree....
So this means that we three agree to agree.
I’d join a majority of national voters in never voting for Cruz.
I assume if Teddy gets flushed by the TX voters next time, he moves on to some of the really lush DC gravy.
Or maybe he’ll just pack up his Cuban-Canadian ass and get the Hell back to Canada where he came from!
Very little up there that would enrich him.
DC lobbying and/or NYC private equity is where all the dough is.
Ooooooo... kaaaaaay...
Fairly easy to agree on this one.
If Trump wins or if he loses, Cruz’s failure to support the party’s nominee will follow him.
And not in a positive manner.
Oh, gee. Thanks for the advice.
This article was written to get Cruz folks stirred up and create more division between the Cruz/Trump folks ...seems to be working.
“So this means that we three agree to agree.”
uuuuuh
YAW !
