CNN host says Michael Phelps shouldn’t carry US flag, but a ‘Muslim’ should . . . Americans are furious (Full Title)
Liberals wanted U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps to give up the honor of carrying the American flag and leading his country’s athletes at the opening ceremony for the Rio Olympic games Friday night.
He’s the wrong color and the wrong sex.
After Phelps was chosen by his fellow Olympians, the U.S. Olympic Team tweeted:
But coming in a close second to Phelps in the team’s vote was Ibtihaj Muhammad, a woman, an African-American and a Muslim to boot.
What could be better, some thought. Diversity, you know.
Leading the pack of naysayers was W. Kamau Bell, host of CNN’s “United Shades of America.” In a CNN op-ed, he described the swimming sensation as a “tall, successful, rich white guy” who clearly didn’t “need the honor.”
“With 22 Olympic medals, you are already the most decorated athlete in Olympic history,” he said.
But American fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad is a different story.
“Muhammad carrying the flag would be much bigger than your one moment,” Bell writes. “It would be a symbol for our country in this moment when we are mostly known for one of the most contentious, controversial, scandal-ridden, hateful, xenophobic, jingoistic, and just generally unlikable presidential elections in recent memory. This is at a time when we could use some more symbols of unity and togetherness.”

If she doesn’t feel safe in America (despite her celebrity status and being a fencer), then she doesn’t know how to handle either.
I was a fencer. Felt very safe at night in No. Philly carrying my weapon to the dorm.
Oh, I was a young white Jewish guy in a drug-ridden black neighborhood (Broad and Diamond). Nobody bothered me and I didn’t bother anyone.
However there was the 13 year old black kid who said “Gimme a nickel” . When I said “NO”, he called me a “damned Jew”. A future Democrat and criminal in the making, I assumed.
I graduated from college with a degree, an MVP Player trophy given to me by Jesse Owens, and a future. I feel sorry for the black kid who lived with hatred instead of the work ethic.
Glad to see that CNN has a commentator who also feels like the kid. It says a lot about the state of things in America today.
That is why I’m not voting for Hillary and her hatemonging Marxist criminals.
Racism is dishonest, petty and ugly. Always has been and always will be. CNN would be ashamed, except racists feel no shame.

I understand her coach’s biggest challenge was getting her to stop beheading defeated opponents.
