Not enough starbucks going to nj politicians.
Yep, because a lot of times it’s a soda, bottle water or sports drink in the cup holder now a days this will expand to those drinks too, what are they going to fine you for a baby bottle next?
Lots of people have to keep water at hand because of health reasons.
Conversely, I have been told that everything in ‘Jersey is legal, as long as you don’t get caught.

Doesn’t surprise me. Pretty sure that New Jersey is one of two States (Oregon being the other) that still bans self-service gas stations. If drivers are willing for the State to tell them they aren’t qualified to pump their own gas, then they are willing for the State to tell them they aren’t qualified to drink hot coffee and operate a moving vehicle at the same time.
I drove 14 hours on Friday night and into Saturday morning. Another 14 hour drive yesterday to return home. A Stanley thermos full of coffee is mandatory on such a trip.
Get into a no traffic area, Drive with knee, open thermos, pour carefully, reseal thermos and enjoy. Eyes are never off the road for more than one second.

When I drive I try to stop every 150 miles or so to stretch.
There is a new wrinkle I learned about the coffee. A mediun Dunkin Doughnuts or Starbucks vanilla latte is much better giving a jolt than the coffee in the thermos
That’s the only time I visit either place
The real reason is that... LEO can’t tell what is the coffee-mug, yet, doesn’t have a reason to stop and check for C2OH.
Revenue enhancement.
Democrats want to enslave us
Dude...you ain’t got nothing on Chicago:
I once passed an ILL Trooper on the Tri-State tollway (at the required speed) only to look over and see that very same trooper practicing his Recorder (wind instrument). Sheet music on the steering wheel.
Anecdotal but true story.
4AMD of the US Constitution negates this bill...
If you have enough money to trail it all the way to SCOTUS.
New Jersey only.
