An African-American woman was being harassed by a cop to the point she felt the need to call 911. This upset the cop, who then decided to arrest her. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
“Newly released video disputes police claims about a black social worker’s violent arrest earlier this year while talking to a 911 dispatcher during a traffic stop in Houston.
A police officer pulled over Earledreka White in March for crossing the double white line, and she called 911 to ask for police backup because she was afraid of the officer who stopped her, reported the Houston Chronicle.
“I would like another officer to come out here,” she says to the dispatcher. “My heart is racing. I’m really afraid.”
The 28-year-old White was placed in handcuffs and charged with resisting arrest during the encounter, and then jailed for two days — where she feared she might end up dead like Sandra Bland, another black woman arrested in Texas following a routine traffic stop.
White said she remained calm throughout the encounter, and she has accused the officer of unnecessarily escalating the situation.”*
We should all aupport the police who risk their lives to maintain law and order. Unfortunately, some people who carry a badge are just thugs. Thug lives don’t matter. In fact criminal cops like this one endanger the lives of honest officers and are a danger to society.

Agree. Cop was out of line, with a chip on his shoulder. Ought to be fired and sued. The woman was not a threat to the cop. Instead of being called peace officers, some should be called assault officers. Because some cops are out to bust heads and not to preserve the peace. Makes it bad for other cops.
I see this as nothing more than a FELONY KIDNAPPING by an Armed Thug, He belongs in PRISON, maybe then he will learn some basic respect for his fellow man.
No I don’t hate cops, a lot of my friends are cops or retired cops. The problem is we No Longer have “Peace Officers”. And I learned All I ever needed to know about “Law Enforcement Officers” from My Grandfather, He Fought them in WWII in Germany!
Earledreka was jail bait for having such an offensive first name
Years ago as a professional I stepped in and stopped two cops who were beating a drunk before dropping him off at the local shelter.
Within the week I was stopped by FOUR police cars on a busy road in town for having an expired sticker. They called a tow truck. I looked at the eight of them, with the two cops who assaulted the drunk in the forefront and asked, is this the payback for stopping you from beating up drunks? Slowly the other cars melted away and the abusers called off the tow truck.
I have watched police carefully since then.
I have seen remarkable police work, people who I have written letters about to their superiors.
I have seen mentally ill people who have been cared for and treated with respect and those who have been tazed so much into submission that they are catatonic or unable to move for days. Those who have been beaten (and believe me I know the difference between resistance wounds and bruises and beating wounds and bruises.
On the whole, I like the police despite the jerks.

I have not seen anyone on FR calling for the murder of police officers. Just the opposite.
Some cops are real screw ups and have caused big problems. It’s not anti-cop to call them out.
Same here. I worked with the police department for a couple decades. Older guys are mostly mellow. But some of the newbie younger ones can be jerks. A brother-in-law cop would tell me stories of beatings inflicted on civilians. One time it was the wrong guy in a similar car, that they chased. Oops. He got disgusted after some years on the beat and switched to being a motorcycle cop. Another brother-in-law cop quit the force because he couldn't stomach others trying to make him join in on shady stuff. The bad ones make it tough for the others.
She was interfering with the duties of the officer, and misusing 911 in his presence, that’s an arrestable offense, and resisted arrest.
Look, this is not a unique situation, it is a common tactic to confuse the situation even more, to raise the drama level over what should be a routine traffic stop. She created the escalation.
A traffic stop is a detention, not a consensual contact where you may leave or move about freely.
If I were this officer’s supervisor, I would have some harsh words. One, don’t let people out of the car. That makes them mobile. Two, as soon as she gets on the phone like this, call for another unit to respond. Three, if you decide to arrest, and she resists, you were trained in proper takedowns, do what you were trained to do.
I’ll stay on this site which is not afraid of the truth and who believe in the constitution.
You should go to a site where the constitution is a hindrance to your sensibilities like the Huffington Post.

You should have been around Boston in the 30s and 40s. The cops were brutal.
No one really cared because the streets were VERY safe.
Modern cops are better-—except for a very few bad ones,of course. That’s life. The criminals have more rights these days.
