Mike Pence ‘strongly’ endorses Paul Ryan, as Trump refuses to do the same

As Donald Trump holds off endorsing House Speaker Paul D. Ryan in Wisconsin's Republican primary, his running mate enthusiastically endorsed Ryan on Wednesday, calling him a “longtime friend” and “strong conservative leader.”

“I strongly support Paul Ryan, strongly endorse his reelection,” Indiana Gov. Mike Pence said during an interview on Fox News on Wednesday afternoon. “I believe we need Paul Ryan in leadership in the Congress of the United States to rebuild our military, to strengthen our economy and to ensure that we have the kind of leadership in this country that will make America great again.”

Trump has angered his party's leadership by refusing to endorse Ryan or Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in their primary campaigns. Both Ryan and McCain have endorsed Trump but have remained critical of many of his comments, including Trump's ongoing public feud with the parents of a Muslim American soldier killed in 2004. Wisconsin holds its primary Tuesday and the Arizona primary is later this month. In an interview with The Washington Post on Tuesday, Trump praised Ryan’s underdog opponent, Paul Nehlen.

"Doubt Pence would have done this without DJT’s permission. It is a token peace, not a rebellion."

Gingrich said last night that Trump should endorse Ryan and McCain because he needs them in his administration and this sideshow about not endorsing them is unhelpful

So yeah, Gingrich the professional pol knows who to stroke

What a shame I see everything to do with truth and morality and fair play being thrown in the garbage in my country.

“Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.”

— Communist Goal #15
In addition to The Naked Communist (1958) pointing that out, The Conscience Of A Conservative in its third chapter was pointing out that the GOP and Democrats were behaving identically (and that book came out two years after TNC). We have had nearly seven decades of ongoing Kabuki theater.

Pence said that he discussed his endorsement of Ryan with Trump on Wednesday morning.

“He strongly encouraged me to endorse Paul Ryan in next Tuesday’s primary,” Pence said, “and I’m pleased to do it.”

Did you guys miss this?

Pence is correct; Trump made a mistake; the campaign is supposed to be against Clinton ... and any Republican in Congress is preferable to Pelosi and Schumer. Is anyone aware how close we are to having Obama write SC decisions to reinterpret the Constitution ?

Gingrich would not pull this kind of crap.

Sure he would in fact he scolded Trump yesterday for picking on them.

Don't be so sure. This was Gingrich earlier today:

"Let me just say flatly, I am totally for John McCain, who is a great war hero and a terrific human being, who has worked very hard for veterans. And I’m totally for Paul Ryan, who is the heart of the House Republican Party and probably the most problem-solving leader we’ve had in the Congress on the Republican side in the last 20 years," Gingrich said in an interview with Fox Business Network Wednesday. "So I think somewhat what Trump has done is just very self-destructive."

I agree. Letting Pence endorse makes it a half-assed endorsement, which is essentially what DJT got from Ryan during the RNC.

Any Republican? Including pro-Obama ones like Ryno?

Nehlen’s a Republican too. The “any Republican” doctrine ought to not exclude him. Right?

I don’t know, the same as all of us here don’t know, but I’m willing to bet this was done to get the media onto something else...

This gives Trump the material he needs to show the American People who are behind him and who aren’t...this is an excellent way to play this...

He said he was taking the gloves off, and by darn that is what he is doing...

And people think this Team Trump/Pence doesn’t have it? Oh yes they do!!!
