Dakota Meyer, the son-in-law of Sarah Palin and a Medal of Honor recipient, has called on Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump to apologize to the family of slain US Army Capt. Humayun Khan.
Meyer, a Marine Corps veteran and the second youngest living person to receive the military's highest honor, joined the backlash and blasted Trump for criticizing Khan's father and mother after they appeared at the Democratic National Convention in support of Hillary Clinton last week.
'If @realDonaldTrump wants to be the Commander in Chief, he needs to act like one,' Meyer wrote in a tweet to his 73,000 followers. 'And that cant start until he apologizes to the Khans.'
Clinton retweeted Meyer's tweet for her eight million followers. Her campaign has seized on the controversy, and members of Trump's own party have turned against him or distanced themselves from him.
Meyer, 28, who is married to Bristol Palin, the daughter of 2008 Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, has been involved in Republican politics and backed Senator Ted Cruz for the nomination.
President Barack Obama awarded Meyer, a former Marine Corps corporal from Columbia, Kentucky, the Medal of Honor in 2011 for his heroic actions during a six-hour battle with the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2009.
Trump has angered politicians on both sides of the political spectrum after he made critical remarks against Khan's father, Khizr, who spoke at the DNC, and mother, Ghazala, who appeared on stage with him. Meyer was awarded the military's highest honor for his heroic actions in Afghanistan
Their 27-year-old son was killed in a suicide attack while serving in Iraq in 2004. The Muslim soldier was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

He COULD make a very educated guess about her without having examined her personally.
Prone to fits of rage, stayed with a rapist after umpteen rapes, and pathologically lies. She also has a God complex, thinking she could have her own server as SOS.
Fools come in all shapes and sizes. The evil media, servants of the DNC, depend upon low info voters as their herd for driving toward the agenda outcome. The Khan man probably hated his son for joining in the fight to stop the world-wide spew of satan’s religion, Islam. The Khan man certainly doesn’t honor his fallen son with more lies ...
I understand the ructions and frictions of an extended family with dynamic personalities. But the Palins veer into Honey Boo Boo territory way too often.
“DJT should tell Meyer to go f- himself.”
But... but... but.... he’s a HERO! Heroes get to say any stupid thing they want (even the parents of heroes), and we’re just supposed to fall upon our knees and listen to their words of wisdom and never, ever, ever question them.
Unless, of course, they’re Republican heroes (or parents of heroes) in which case they can be challenged, fact-checked, lied to, ignored, defamed and dismissed.
That’s what the RATS believe, anyway.
No, it's running around, probably a DNC plant. Like the "Manafort or Trump had the GOP platform changed to favor Russia against Ukraine," when the fact is, the platform is unchanged.
I just read that the same rumor has been floated at MSNBC. I doubt Costello is smart enough to dress herself, let alone make up rumors.
LOL, Costello just now repeated it ... 10:03. Same person on the other end, Dana Bash.
Lengthy discussion about what the party rules are if a candidate drops out. bash says there is nothing from the Trump camp, just a claim that GOP party officials are working on what to do if the candidate becomes unavailable. Well hell, that's standard practice! The candidate can become unavailable for a host of reasons, illness, accident, assassination.
Costello again, 10:05, "Is it possible that Trump could drop out?" in front of a four person panel. Kayleigh Mcenerney (Trump surrogate) says that's nuts, but bless her heart, she doesn't laugh Costello out of the chair.
The exact thing Trump said doesn’t matter. MSM got the narrative they needed from Trump’s reaction.
Just linking to post 45, to increase chance you see my thoughts on that.
“I am not internet savvy so I put this out there. Is there any other place to go except Yahoo.”
It seems the internet, at large, is about 99% infected with underhanded liberal propaganda. Even if you go to Drudge, it’s filled with little “ads” at the bottom - click-bait with bad pictures of Tiffany Trump (”WHY DONALD TRUMP KEEPS HIS DAUGHTER HIDDEN!”) and 40 year old pictures of Hillary Clinton (though I wouldn’t have even wanted to hump her THEN) that you can click on to re-live the highlights of her amazing, historic life.
The anti-Trump propaganda is just EVERYWHERE, and it’s a little distressing because there doesn’t seem to be a thing in the world we can do to counter it.
The “right” has “sacred cows” too.
We can’t be getting into a tizzy every single time one is bumped into, any more than we can be flogging them to death. There is a middle way.
This issues is a tar baby for Trump, regardless of who started it. As Commander in Chief he will face similar, although more deadly intense, situations and Meyer is right: he needs to learn how to handle them.
Being awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor does not equate being awarded a brain or an IQ to go with it. Dakota Meyer; political pawn.
He may be a Medal of Honor winner, but he’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Maybe we ought to recognize that we can’t be playing the game of sacred cow.
Bill Bratton, Police Commissioner of NYC, just demanded that Trump hand back the Purple Heart.
Excuse me, but a vet gave that to Trump. A vet who obviously supports Trump. This sounds to me like people are dissing a VETERAN OF THE WARS OF AMERICA!
Shiny things...
Ditto !!!!
Bull feathers. This is a total fabrication and you cruzers know it!~
Hilary hates the military. Soldiers never vote democrat. Trump has got to counter attack. Get all these heroes and parents of fallen heroes who despise Hillary up on a stage with Trump and take no prisoners in their condemnation of Hillary.
Spittles the concern troll!
Saying he's sorry for something he's not guilty of shows weakness (which is what they want).
It'll never happen, nor should it.
