The decision to release John Hinckley Jr. from St. Elizabeths psychiatric hospital after his attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan is outrageous, disgraceful, and a travesty of justice.
No matter how much supervision he has, Hinckley cannot be trusted to move and function in society.
Even though his victims, Reagan and White House press secretary James Brady, have died, Hinckley remains a threat. According to the Secret Service, he is still obsessed with Jodie Foster. Hinckleys actions remain a terrible stain on American history and a reminder of the lifetime of damage that can be caused by one man in a matter of seconds.
This is a purely political decision by Judge Paul L. Friedman, who clearly wishes to corrupt Reagans legacy. Friedman was appointed to the bench by President Bill Clinton in March 1994. Just as a jury of liberal Washingtonians came to the liberally biased verdict that Hinckley was innocent by reason of insanity, so too is this decision.

Yep, still alive, still in jail, though he does come up for parole every few years.
Dang it, on the other thread I mentioned this and confused Hinkley with Chapman - two abject losers, guess it’s easy to confuse them.
Depends on the party affiliation.
Doubtful, SS is one of the least partisan agencies in the federal government.
“Just 70 days into a presidency that has become one of the most iconic legacies in our countrys history, an explosive bullet lay inches from our fierce leaders heart. If you think medicine alone saved Reagan, you better think again. “
Look for the Secret Service keeping a very, very, very close eye on him. He is not going to any place, period.
Intended to send a message—open season for would-be assassins of Republicans. It’s signaling, nothing more or less.
Interesting that James Brady’s death in 2014 was ruled homicide. For that reason alone, Hinckley should remain incarcerated.
But even Brady thought it was the gun that was responsible, not Hinkckley.
So, there’s that.
On the bright side, it does look like Mr. Right has finally come around for Jodie Foster ...
Attempt to assassinate a Republican President...get released.
Murder a Rock Star...stay in prison.
It's not at all unusual to have attempted murder treated more leniently than actual murder.
Perhaps...but I don’t want to see either of these nuts out on the street.
