It was a scheme designed to offer Syrian refugees a new life in Scotland, away from the horrors of their war-ravaged homeland.
But some of the first to be given sanctuary in Rothesay eight months ago have spoken of their unhappiness on Bute, saying it is ‘full of old people’ and a place ‘where people come to die’.
Argyll and Bute Council was among 16 Scottish local authorities to sign up for the initiative, with the first 100 Syrian refugees flown to the UK and on to Scotland in November last year. But Abd, who had been making trips to Glasgow to find work, said: ‘I didn’t expect to come to this island. We thought we were going to London or Manchester. But whenever we say anything about moving off the island, we are told “We had to pay a lot of money to bring you here”. ‘I feel like it’s an obligatory residence. I feel humiliated. I didn’t come here for anyone to control me.

Life is what you make of it- I have absolutely no sympathy.
He needs to get on with it & start living as best he can and become a productive member of society in whatever he/she does.
Lollygagging around in the mid-east is well known for a number of reasons & most of these people are so co-dependent it’s not funny. They live their lives thru each other .

Bute has many sheep farms.

I read about this poor island when this was happening to them! The natives are the victims and were kept in the dark about how many would come and given NO choice about accepting them, then right away noticed that the “refugees” were getting more perks than the locals (nicer apts, new appliances and bikes, etc).
What the Syrians are really depressed about is the island doesn’t have enough jihadists to run things THEIR way and take over the island!
Somebody give them a row boat and a kick in the arse.
And less sheep.
It looks like a beautiful place. They could go fishing or spend time outdoors. Maybe they could learn a trade or find employment or lead normal lives like everyone else was before their effin’ “religion” started making normal people’s lives miserable.
Plenty of sheep, though.
Why? They can swim. Right? I heard somewhere that muzzies are excellent swimmers. (Pointing south and east) Jihadistan is that way ... Jump in boyo!

I just google mapped the island and looked at the photos posted of the island,beautiful place. What a bunch of ungrateful dirtbags.

on the plus side plenty of sheep ad goats up in Scotland.
They went from being oppressed to being depressed. The cowards should have stood up and fought for their country. I guess they didn’t think it was worth the trouble.
