...the dangers are mainly for 534,000 Massachusetts residents who draw their water from private wells, the report found. Unlike public water systems, wells are not subject to state and federal testing and treatment requirements...
Environmental advocates said they worry whether the department is up to the job of regulating the water supply....The DEP really needs to beef up its ground water monitoring.

Note this article is by by the liberal organ, the Boston Globe,
The article reports that residents with private wells are advised to switch to the public supply, if possible.
Tomorrow Maura Healey will announce that private wells are illegal as of Wednesday.
General Ripper was on to something.
The picture is of a ground water pond? It is by definition surface water. Do they mean, filled by ground water? This is just another tightening of the noose with regard to getting everyone dependent on government.
Water is either corrosive or scale-forming. (Ryzner Stability Index). This is sort of like saying water us wet so “watch out.” People who don’t know anything should have to pass a test to be a “journalist.”
Just look at the cancer rates on cape Cod. You coldn’t pay me to live in Taxachussets. Move to New Hampshire, or Texas!
And they are crazy enough there to elect Pocahontis.
The gubmint wants to control everything - if they can control it, they can regulate it, and if they can regulate it they can fine you or force you to pay a fee or tax on it. With government it’s always about the Benjamin’s. Every time.
“The article reports that residents with private wells are advised to switch to the public supply, if possible.”
What a joke.
Money grab by the MWRA.
Most expensive water in the world.
[He advised residents with private wells to switch to the public supply, if possible.
Its safer, he said, although how much safer depends on how well and often the water is tested and treated.]
Talk about fear mongering. Water in areas where there is a lot of granite instead of limestone tends to have a lower PH. We have that here. Just flush the pipes for a few minutes if the water has set in them for hours.
I would drink my well water any day over the sewage mixed chlorinated reservoir water.
I often tell people that during dry spells, the only makeup water flowing into the reservoirs around here is treated sewage blasted with chlorine.
Gun control and water control. How nice. More like no free ground water but processed municipal utilities will take service over and charge you water and sewage fees to feed government utopian paradise.
Are the DBM and Rats going to hold Gov. Baker responsible for this as they did Gov. Snyder over the Flint, MI water problems?
Water, it’s nasty stuff, causes corrosion, and is the most universal solvent known, more universal than any petrochemical solvent. Bad, bad stuff, water.
We need ion control!
Dihydrogenmonoxide kills! Ban dihydrogenmonoxide!
This could explain some of the insane voting patterns of Massachusetts.
Electing Fat Dead Teddy Kennedy, Elizabeth Fauxahontas Warren, Ed Markey, sounds like lead or other toxic substances in the bloodstream on a massive scale.
couldn't stop ranting!
I guess water, as a chemical, could be considered “corrosive” just like oxygen, as a chemical, could be considered “corrosive”.
Public water supply?
Ha!
How many millions that the states and towns don’t have would it take to extend those lines?
Even our corrupt CT governor hasn’t been crazy enough to run water lines out into the middle of nowhere.
They want them on public supply. The company that does the water is likely a big donor to the dems. Can't control the water to the masses if they have their own wells.
BTW, I have a well and it has water that is actually cleaner, out of the well, than any city water could be. I live in CT. If I ever move losing that water will truly suck.
Bingo!
"Control!
We must have control!!"
