In a taped interview with CBS's John Dickerson that aired Sunday on "Face the Nation," Obama said that fact "says something about what's happened to the Republican Party over the course of the last eight, 10, 15 years."
Obama also reiterated what he said in a news conference on Friday: that he doesn't think the dark picture of America that Trump painted in his nomination speech is true, even in the wake of an attack on a Munich mall later that day that killed at least nine people.

Yes it says the GOP is more democratic and open than the other party.
Trump was elected fair and square even though the GOP establishment preferred someone else.
As compared with the other party who used a rigged system and “superdelegates” to crush the other opponents so that their chosen one would win.
Not to mention a totally corrupt AG, FBI and president who dragged her over the goal line.
Well, it is certainly the case that Democrat voters are not the enemy and that their voices should be heard and their needs and opinions are a thing to be worked with in the hope of reaching a consensus.
The problem is that Republican and Independent voters have not been treated with the same respect. Until Trump came along, nobody in either party was taking large swathes of the voting public into account.
The Healthcare bill was passed unread and over the objections of many.
TPA was shoehorned through over the objections, very LOUD objections of voters left and right, neither of which was allowed to read the associated deals.
Is anyone still calling the Iran deal a good thing? This was also autocratically mandated.
Voters were denied any input on border enforcement, which is a thing you can’t have a country without.
We were told that taxpayers had to do bailouts, but that absolutely no public accounting would be done.
We’ve been divided along racial and lifestyle lines, then set against one another.
We’ve been lied to, repeatedly.
We’ve been politically correctified, but certainly never EVER sanctified. The closest we’ve gotten is being looked down on by the sanctimonious.
So, yes. That we are grateful for Donald Trump stepping into the breach, floofy hair, occasional conspiracy theories and all, does say something about the GOP.
What it says is that the GOP condescending asshat elites are not as well organized as the ones in the Democratic party are.
It’s says we’re fed up with your sorry ass, and with the sorry GOP Elite asses that have been destroying our party for years. Can’t wait to see your backside on January 20th, 2017.
I’m sure ya’ll are tired of me saying that in our fairly
early primary, I voted Cruz.
HOWEVER, On Election Day, I will walk, no RUN, barefoot over
rough gravel to get to the polls, God willing, to cast my
vote for DONALD JOHN TRUMP for President of the United
States!!
Yaaayyyy Amber! You got the word “dark” in there by the third line.
Now go sit in the corner and eat your cookie.
20 years? Much longer than that. Your naiveté and/or optimism is charming.
nobama: “ ... But she knows her stuff, and more than anything, that is what is ultimately required to do a good job in this office.”
Taken to it’s logical conclusion, Killary does know her stuff. As one of the USA’s top crime figures she certainly does know her stuff. Just like Al Capone, Frank Lucas, Whitey Bulger, “El Chapo,” Meyer Lansky, Dutch Schultz, Frank Nitti, et al.
Finally, truth from Obama, Trump nomination indeed says something: we are all fed up with the dark criminal crap government of Barack Hussein O’bama.
Democrat Party owner and Crime Boss Mrs Bill Clinton will get thrashed in the election and then prosecuted and locked up along with the DNC criminal outgoing-chairman.
Yeah, it says we’re tired of having a Marxist, Mooslim, Kenyan, Steaming Pant Load, Sissy Boy, Race Baiting Poverty Pimp Goat humping, Allah FUBAR screaming Sand Uyghur in the White Mosque.
Exactly right. This is why Mr. Trump’s speech was so powerful and affected us on so many levels, because he’s not a McCain or a Romney that the Left can control. We finally have someone we can feel good about voting for after 7 years of that hate-filled, racist and effeminate Muslim in the White House.
I watched the documentary, Clinton Cash, and the corruption those 2, bill and hill, have been dealing with... living in... getting their millions from..... is unbelievable! To do all that and not be indicted.... it’s a travesty of the laws and justice in our country.
I am counting on President Trump to put his justice department to work and getting those 2 people off the streets.... taking their millions and making sure those who purchased our uranium, the gas pipe line, access to President Clinton, and all the rest... the deals are OFF!
Bernie Sander’s Non-nomination says something about the Democrat Party
Obama, what a qu*ff !
it means at least one party in this country wants borders.
LIKE
Obama should not have been elected even once and certainly not twice.
It’s time for the electorate to start paying attention.
Americas mini political dark age is about to end.
Maybe he can find a place in his administration for Obama's brother.
Hey Obama: Because of our poor educational system, MOST Americans are unaware that the Democratic party historically was, and is, the Party of Slavery. Whereas, not one single Republican government official or elected politician EVER owed a slave!
