CLEVELAND Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is already focused on picking people for his future Cabinet.
A day before accepting his partys nomination and completing an astonishing political rise that has taken him to the heights of the Republican Partys power, Trump met with his inner circle at the Cleveland Westin to discuss his possible transition.
Eric Trump told The Hill that his father is determined to put together a Cabinet that can help him turn around the country. He suggested his father would look to the private sector to find effective leadership for government.
You have to have the best people, and you have to put those people in charge, and those people have to be the best at what they do, and thats going to be my fathers message, Trump said.
If were going to have the biggest deals in the world, which are trade deals, why not have the best guys negotiate this? Why not have the Carl Icahns or the top guys of Wall Street? he added. Its why theyre worth millions and billions of dollars. Its because theyre tough and theyre shrewd.
Donald Trump recently floated former Goldman Sachs executive Steve Mnuchin as a possible choice to head the Treasury Department, a development first reported by Fortune. Mnuchin serves as the national finance chairman of his campaign.
Icahn, one of the nations savviest investors, said last year he was not interested in heading Treasury.
Youll probably see a lot of people who are outside traditional Washington, D.C., Eric Trump added. The people who are in there right now havent exactly done this country wonders.

Great idea !
More like $16K.
Can’t disagree in any way! However, I do think 17th was part of the beginning of the loss of understanding of that sovereignty. As you say, there is so much more.
With Texas now creating its own gold holdings, its own power grid, etc. it has become a model for how it can be done. Wish Oklahoma would do that!
You are welcome, TEXOKIE!
So far, NO state has stood up to the feds and risked losing federal funding. As always, it comes down to the money. That’s the bottom line. No state has stepped up because we have political wimps in charge of each state and THAT is because the people of each state are still fast asleep. But I think they are waking up. Can’t happen too soon.
Trump represents change from the top but there also needs to be change from the bottom - the states and the people. They’ve go to step up and as I said, it can’t happen too soon. Just ONE STATE. That’s all it would take. Just one freaking courageous state that says FU to the tyranny of the feds and start its financial journey to independence. One state. Others would follow. I pray for this to happen and SOON.
Why not women's? Kill two birds, kinda thing!
How do you mean - enumerating it now would put Hillary in a box?
And they must learn to use manufacture coupons to stretch their food dollars.
I’d rather tax $$ went for TP than a bag of potato chips, soda, cookies, Little Debbie’s, etc.
I was a divorced mom for a decade, made to much money at $3.50 a hr to get food stamps for me and 2 boys. We survived with the aid of coupons and rummage sales for clothes. The only new stuff I bought were, socks, underwear and shoes. Boys had 2 sets of clothes, decent ones for school, and play ones, they knew to change when they came home. Lots of days a supper was a box of Mac & Cheese with a hot dog. Took a packed lunch to elementary school where a dime bought a carton of milk. But they never went hungry.
And sure didn’t run to the doctor’s for every little sniffle like they do today. Ins. didn’t pay doctor office visits or meds. Did pay those ER visits for stitches with a co-pay. I got good at taking the stitches out so I didn’t have a dr bill to pay to do that.
I’ve couponed all my adult life, more so now that I’m a Senior on limited income. DUMBO’s no hope, and higher prices for food.
He looks a lot like his Dad. Especially in the 1980’s Trump videos. Another contender in the wings.
Your story is so inspiring... and such a model for how people have traditionally had the pride - and ABILITY - to do for ones’ self and to not demand and expect as their due, government handouts.
I totally agree with you about the TP in place of the empty calorie snackage on the taxpayer dime. Also agreeing with you regarding your assessment of our choice before us.
(And I imagine that today you are justifiably proud of those 2 boys!)
That have made the usual mistakes of growing boys, but not the kind that land you in juvy. The belt took care of a lot of the worst behaviors under 12. Hand wash/drying dishes and going to bed at 7pm took care of the rest because I took all toys, books, TV, etc away. I’d extend it a month if needed. I could come up with a whole list of unpleasant chores. ROFLOL as I look back.
Eldest is up for district manager for Papa John’s after about 8 months, DUMBO’s Depression cost him his district manger’s job at Swiftee’s. Started out delivering pizzas, with the knowledge the manger’s job was his when they fired the incompetent one. Youngest works all the OT he can get, he does factory work welding and folk lift operator. Yes, rather proud of both. Now if only they’d find nice Christian ladies and settle down to married life. Oldest has been married, a disaster. I’ve 1 grandson, typical of today’s generation because his LIBTARD mother has raised him. I’ve little contact with him, she doesn’t allow it for his dad and that also includes me. The I Want Syndrome. Not I need and can I work for it.
That's a definite keeper!
This is difficult for her because it is her argument that everything is fine and that no change is necessary. She is the third term of Obama the Great. The enumeration of a program implies that Obama was not so great after all.
It would be a good chess move.
Ah! Grazie.
Making McCain Secrtary of War would get him out of the Senate, where he wields disproportionate power, especially when paired with Senator Graham.
McCain’s final stint in the Navy was as CO of RAG-174. By all accounts, he performed admirably.
John McCain is not a well man. He would last a year, at most as Secretary of War. Those of us who served with him in Vietnam would appreciate the conciliatory gesture by President Trump.
And, yes, General Flynn would make a splendid choice to serve as the second Secretary of War in modern times.
Oh my! your boys ARE amazing! I’m so sorry to hear of the distance to your grandson enforced on you and your son . That is a very sad state of affairs too often seen these days.
God bless you and your family in all things.
LOL! that’s what we thought too! It will be stashed firmly in my keepsake box along with some of our other treasures!
You do make an interesting case. I trust Trump having good judgment in his choices of a team, and pray that in all things he is granted guidance from on high. So far IMHO, he seems to be doing pretty well! If he places McCain in a position of authority, I really will be surprised, but will accept it if he judges that to be the best place for him.
But McCain has really ripped his knickers with me by his actions in the Senate over the years big time!
Not wishing him any harm, and hope for his total healing, body, mind, and soul in whatever is the Lord’s perfect place for him at the perfect time, whatever and wherever that may be.
He is 14 nearly 15, so in less than 4 yrs he can move out and come live with his dad. He’s not happy living with his mom. You can’t even send him a gift card with that BD or Christmas card she steals it for herself. I get what he needs and have Amazon send it there, she can’t return it for the money, that would only come back to my gift card. She is hooked on Xanax from her breast cancer treatments, and is not a mother just a junkie zombie, not a fit mother, he already out strips her in education, but he is being imprinted with her bad habits. Son works 12-14 hrs a day, which will get longer when the district manager’s job goes thru. She has to file for divorce, and she won’t, if son does, it’s double the cost because she is in Indiana and he’s in TN. Plus she would lose the $400 on her SS disability that goes to support him so that will stay in limbo until he is 18. She does not realize the hole she has dug for herself she is that zoned out.
Oh wow! He is very fortunate to have you and your son ready and able to pick up any pieces. Wishing for the protection of your grandson, and the very best solution for all concerned, according to God’s will and timing.
