Art Laffer is a famous economist, one of the brains behind President Ronald Reagan's supply-side tax cuts in 1981. But he was also a political adviser to Reagan and other presidential candidates. Based on history rather than polls or demographics, he insists Donald Trump will win the presidential raceand win easily.
History is an argument not often heard in presidential elections except in one case: the likelihood that after one party holds the White House for eight years, that party probably won't win four more years. The one exception in the past half-century was the election of George H.W. Bush in 1988 after eight years of the Reagan presidency.
But Laffer doesn't rely heavily on that case. Instead, he cites six historical parallels, comparisons, or developments that he says point inescapably to a Trump victory over Hillary Clinton in November.
Kristol let this through?
But can he overcome states where voter id not required..like texas where Hispanics run over the border to vote
I hope he wins, but I don’t think it is going to be easy.
Odd. I wonder why.
Ha...Kristol now has to back pedal...Trump IS the nominee...he wants to regain some credibility. He won’t in MY world...but he will try.
Trump should win big. I am worried about federal court attacks upon voter id laws close states. In spite of SCOTUS rulings to the contrary, lower federal courts continue to overturn voter id laws. Texas recently as I recall the other day. Voter fraud is so much harder to harder to pull off when photo ids are required. If the left can get one favorable case before the current court they will win. I think one of the things Trump needs to do is restore the integrity of the ballot box. I think it is vital.
Judge: Texas Voter ID Law Will Be Enforced this November
Later is a smart guy
That said, ignore all polls
Get Out The Vote
Laffer is stating that Trump will win for the same reasons I have been. The economy sucks and a businessman sounds like just the type of guy to fix it instead of a old corrupt hag. I was far more worried about Hillary winning than Trump. By contrast no one would have thought that Ted Cruz or Rubio had the chops to handle due to their lack of experience.
Legitimate impediment is going to be a problem. Broad definition using dem standards.
Because teddy blew himself up and now he has to get on the bandwagon or be left out
I think it will be determined by what happens in the world between now and election day and voter turnout.
We can expect mostly bad things to happen that will help Trump. More terrorist attacks, more attacks on police, the same or worse on the economy and jobs.
And voter turnout. Are people excited enough about Hillary to go out and vote? Will the Black vote turn out for her in enough numbers?
He should, but there no telling how motivated the #GibsMeDat vote will turnout once the DNC media is finished shilling for its team.
I agree and expect more of the same.
I wonder if the lack of violence in Cleveland was due to Hillary calling the dogs off because she saw it wasn’t helping her.
I believe Trump will win in a landslide.
Once Trump has the economy roaring again and pride in America has returned, it’s going to be hilarious hearing Kristol and his ilk saying, “Heh heh. Well, actually I knew it all along ... “
I’m hoping for a landslide to keep the pesky gope from any funny business after the election.
He needs a mandate to get things done.
