Technology investor Peter Thiel implored Republicans from the convention stage on Thursday against waging "culture wars" on lesbian, gay and transgender communities, mere days after the GOP approved a national platform that defines marriage as between one man and one woman. Thiel, who himself is gay, stressed that "every American has a unique identity." He said attempts to require transgender Americans to use particular bathrooms is a "distraction from our real problem." And in a first for a GOP convention, the Facebook board member and PayPal co-founder drew attention to his own sexuality: "I am proud to be gay, I am proud to be a Republican, but most of all, I am proud to be an American," he said.

Did you enthusiastically embrace every part of McCain and Romney’s visions for American when they had their conventions?
So you’re not concerned for those who are losing businesses, being fired, being fined, imprisoned, for simply exercising their constitutionally guaranteed rights?
Perhaps we won’t be concerned for you when it’s your turn to get bullied by the government at the behest of some leftist special interest group.
It’s years beyond the excuse of what adults want to do privately. SO far beyond that, that anyone bringing it up is knowingly lying and shilling for the homo agenda.
What does my attitude have to do with the USSC justices? We had the “great conservative” president of the 20th century appoint 67% in favor of Roe and his 2 Republican successors were 50% in favor of Roe. And if Hillary does win this year, it may be another generation before even in theory Rs would have enough USSC justices to overturn it and I don’t believe they actually want to (they being the party elite).
Hellbound sickly fag. Why was he even there?
Don’t blame me. I did NOT vote for Obama ever. - I voted
for RONALD REAGAN the first time he ran, have voted for
the Republican in EVERY political race since.
The OBAMA Administration started all this “bakery”
crap. Don’t look at me.
Well. SOLVE the problem then! Do it!! Hitler-y sure as
shootin’ won’t! She will double down on what Obama has
“accomplished”!
It is moral codes why we also don’t go around calling fools “dickwads.”
People can do what ever in their home, but that is not happening is it?
It is being forced onto people who do not agree.
Perhaps you missed the fact that I pointed out existing law (the constitution) makes these anti-religious anti-discrimination laws unconstitutional, and thereby moot.
But it takes someone in the White House who can affect the makeup of the judiciary to solve the issue.
Or it will take a new revolution.
I prefer the peaceful option, myself.
bit of a drama queen comment, something I would expect with a liberal, but certainly not on here.
No one has stated they want to imprison homosexuals, this is about forcing people to accept their perversion
I don’t know if it is what Thiel intended, but I took it as an exhortation to the left to back off the phony culture wars.
HUH so bakers cannot bake what they want now according to you. Good grief, you sure loves to support the homosexuals.
Republicans is an odd way of saying left
This is a matter not of hijacking cakes, but hijacking artistry.
The people who state they are not bothered or it doe snot affect them show their ignorance and selfishness. They are th eons who have helped the homosexuals and cross dressers, and like hell will I ever stop fighting them or concede anything to them.
Exactly for years the crap about it is their private business has got old. The fact is they make it everyone’s business. We don’t go and have straight pride parades, straight flags, flying, business which fly our flag etc. We don’t go suing homosexuals because they might not agree with us.
For those who state it is their business and it doe snot hurt anyone then go and wake the hell up and stop being so small minded and ignorant.
Of course, every American has a unique identity. I am proud to be gay. I am proud to be a Republican. But most of all I am proud to be an American. I don't pretend to agree with every plank in our party's platform; but fake culture wars only distract us from our economic decline, and nobody in this race is being honest about it except Donald Trump.
I believe that every single "fake culture war" (social) issue in the GOP platform is a reaction to something started by the left.
Don't take my remark as being indifferent to the culture wars, I believe the pushback toward ages-long principle is essential, and must prevail, or the civilization is doomed.
Who started the bathroom wars? Was Thiel being critical of Republicans on that count? I don't think so.
Not saying I'm right either (on reading Thiel's sentiment), just saying I'm imposing my view of the culture wars, as being shared by Thiel. I say to the left, "back off."
I find homosexuality spiritually, and physically, repulsive. But what people do with other consenting adults in private is none of my business or the government’s. It may make for a good topic in a sermon, but it is a lousy subject for laws. If the only objection we have is Mr. Thiel’s vices then we are all in trouble. My own sins, while different, are certainly no less egregious than his. Let those without sin cast the first stone.
“Those who busy themselves with the sins of others have not yet begun to see their own.” -St. Maximus the Confessor.
>>if you only forget to repent for one, then you still die an unrepentant sinner.
The problem isn’t “forgetting” to repent - it’s REFUSING to repent and perverting forgiveness into permission.
