You arrogant ass! yelled Donald Hoffman, the former president of the American Nuclear Society, who was standing on the floor for Cruzs remarks.
Cruz continued on, his voice shaky, as the noise from delegates on the floor and attendees in the second and third decks of the arena all but drowned him out.
The scene, watched by millions of people around the world, was an unmitigated nightmare for Cruz, who in many ways was using Wednesdays speech as the unofficial kickoff of his 2020 campaign. Cruz knew that he was taking a risk by not endorsing Trump yet never could have predicted the scope of vitriol his decision would elicit.
When he had uttered his final words Thank you, and may God bless the United States of America Cruz was showered with thunderous, cascading boos. He stepped away from the podium yet remained on the stage for several moments, waving and smiling uncomfortably, trying not to appear paralyzed by the moment.

I saw that, too.
Dude is Monty Python’s Black Knight, personified.
Every student at both colleges he went to stated what a looney tunes this guy was, and; despite warnings, so many fell for this mentally deranged madman. And even after he told people he was the chosen one they still refused to see that he IS MENTAL.
Trump gave Cruz enough rope and Ted hung himself tonite.
I don’t want to say he was booed off the stage but well he was booed off the stage. :-)
LOL!
Steve Deace was lambasting the CROWD. His reason was: What will people think if they tune in and see the convention booing THE ONLY CANDIDATE WHO RESPECTS THE CONSTITUTION?
There was very strong booing, and I suggest they muted the mics that caught the audience sound.
If we heard the booing at all, it had to have been very strong.
This was basically a D.B. Cooper move except Ted forgot to ask for a parachute or money.
He seems to have traded away a good chance to be president in 2024 (after supporting Trump) for a very slim chance of being president in 2020 or ever.
Who knows, maybe he harbors some illusion of running this year. I don’t think he could get that together, under any banner, but if he did, his share of the vote would be no better than the Libertarians, it would drain some of their vote perhaps, and I can’t see him getting even 5%.
This mystifies me. But at the same time, it’s a one-day wonder. Once Donald Trump speaks and pulls together his team of support (which is considerable) most of the focus will switch to the Democrats for a week or two, and then it will be game on for the general election. Ted Cruz has had his last major action of a complicated drama. He just hasn’t grasped fully that while he’s one kind of rebel against the GOP establishment, Trump is more generally an alternative to that orthodoxy and one that is much more attractive to the voters. Cruz was plan B in the inevitable process of replacing the GOP of the Bush-Romney era, but plan A will win out. End of story.
His snarky grin and pause for applause, really did me in...was getting ready to turn TV off, then I heard the cries for TRUMP, WE WANT TRUMP, OVER AND OVER...AND I THOUGH, TEDDY, YOUR GOING TO BE IN FOR SOME PAIN...
I PREDICT HIS POLITICAL CAREER WILL BE OVER...AND WIFEY WILL FILE FOR DIVORCE...
LET'S ROLL VOTERS WE HAVE A JOB TO FINISH...AND WE NEED TO MAKE SURE AMERICA HEARS US ROAR LIKE LIONS, FOR TRUMP~PENCE..IN NOVEMBER.
“To me, the real question is how come Cruz didnt know thats what was going to happen.”
I think he knew he would get some pushback in the hall...what he didn’t know is that Trump would embarrass him by having him thrown out of Adelson’s convention suite. That’s probably the real story...Cruz went straight from the stage to the donor’s suite...it was no coincident that Trump was in the suite sending out pics of him with Adelson and his wife, while Cruz was being told he was no longer welcome in.
Cruz is a self-promoting attention whore.
Amazing.
Of corse he was, lying kvan.
Someday we will learn that Ted is on top of a water tower, naked, with a rifle and crowing at the moon.
Look, this is probably going to work out fine for both Cruz and Trump. Cruz sets himself up as a brand of uncompromising christian conservative. His brand will be small but strong. Trump shows that he has the party. He has Pence. And he is setting up a difference between President of the United States and Priest of the United States.
To vote for Trump you are not voting for the perfect conservative. Instead you are voting against a corrupt government, a corrupt party and a corrupt media. Trump is breaking through a Clinton, Bush elite sham that used democracy as a show, to get 51% behind one guy.
I think Ted Cruz would have been a fine president. But I voted for Trump when I started to believe that Ted Cruz will never get the chance to be President. And I believe Trump does have the chance. Its really that. The press has done a great job tearing down conservatives. They crucified Cruz when he filibustered with stories about Green Eggs and Ham. They make him look small and mean, and sort of dorky. And unfortunately for him, I think he has reinforced this portrayal tonight.
“I think Cruz was or is planing a 3rd party run to get Hillary elected.”

You may be on to something. He would get the backing of the GOPe/RNC who’s been working against Trump from the beginning.
Plus I’m sure Cruz will be privately egged on by the likes of Levin and Beck.
