CLEVELAND (AP) -- Sen. Ted Cruz's Texas-size political ambitions will be on full display Wednesday as the primary runner-up delivers a prime-time convention speech, but holds off on a full-throated endorsement of Republican nominee Donald Trump.
The conservative senator repeatedly clashed with Trump during a bitter primary fight, with the New York businessman mocking the lawmaker as "Lyin' Ted." With an eye toward 2020, Cruz's team drafted a convention speech focusing on adherence to the Constitution, a calling card for conservatives and a perceived contrast with Trump.
Cruz has not endorsed Trump despite pleas for party unity from the campaign and party officials. Nor is he expected to in his speech, which was carefully screened by Trump campaign officials, the senator's aides said.

Cruz is still cultivating his rich fantasy life where Trump loses, and he comes to the rescue in 2020 and defeats Hillary, leading the way to a new conservative Renaissance and golden age.
This guy needs mental help. I am going to have a hard enough time voting GOP in the future, and I can never imagine voting for this smirking asshat.
If he fails to endorse, then it wont matter how proven he is.
He either helps to defeat Hillary or helps elect her.
He, and his amen corner of fans, have a 50% chance of becoming honorary Democrats. Lets see if they are as smart as they like to pretend.
Bush, Kasich, and Cruz should never get funding from the RNC if they ever run for president again. And Paul Ryan is another as far as I’m concerned.
Laying aside ego, hurt feelings, and future ambitions, he can, with this speech, do a great service for the country.

“If we had a list of all the Cruz supporters who guaranteed that Cruz would honor his promise “once Trump is the nominee,” we could ping them after the speech, and ask for feedback.”
Most of them resigned from the site, or got zotted, because they didn’t actually expect Cruz to not win.
‘Trump should pull him’
Trump would be insane to renege on his offer. It would make Ted look like a martyr, and undermine the intense anticipation of people who really do want to find out what Cruz will say. Trump couldn’t buy this type of publicity.
Cruz will be President someday and when you disparage him in a future election cycle perhaps you will be banned from FR just like those who criticized Trump.
LOL. You are one deluded Cruzlim. Ted Cruz has no future in politics due his treasonous behavior. We have Americans dead by the dozens in the streets due to Democrat policies and Ted Cruz can’t bring himself to endorse the one person who can stop those policies. How pathetic is that?

And give a speech in all five of the languages she speaks in.
All in the Trump family except DJT and Tiffany speak at least two languages. Even little Barron has learned the language of his grandparents so he can more easily communicate with them
News reports, for what you can take them for, are saying that after St. Ted speaks, all of his supporters are going to walk out of the building...
The way I see this, they already have, without supporting the party that they say they so dearly love, and not supporting the Nominee of the Party, they are with Hillary and always have been...
I have wondered for a few years, what was the real reason ‘rat’ Romney let Barky have the Presidentcy and then it hit me, it was already a done deal, it had been planned for months, that’s why Hillary let Barky have the Presidency back in 08...it was all planned...
And it was planned for Hillary this time with Jeb Bush, but the problem they didn’t count on was Trump, at first everyone laughed, then as he started knocking off the candidates they got more worried, so they threw Cruz at him, only problem there, The Bushes and Cruzes have a history and when this was dropped as a bombshell, St. Ted disappeared, so the meeting here in Park City, Utah about how were they going to resurrect this problem they had, word does get out and yes St. Ted was at that meeting, but the media was paid to shut their mouths, yeah even in St. Utah money talks and B.S. walks....
Well now there is nothing for them to do, they have been shot to hell and back, good for us and America, so the little livered chicken poops are going to walk out, well walk out, you already have and if St. Ted thinks 2020, forget about it, your strips bleed blue just like the party you support...in fact if I were Texas residents, I would strip him of his Senate Seat and then tell him to get out of Texas they don’t like ‘Liars’...
I think he is going to make a spectacular Trump endorsement tonight.
Cruz isn’t going to endorse. That is what these leaks are about. He will talk some about “unity” and how terrible Hillary is. Similar to what that Ryan said. After an hour of Cruz talking about himself and the biased media most likely.
Give Ted credit: he does work overtime to fuel the popular culture image of the white conservative Republican as a smirking, out of touch asshat
