Another day, another speech by a member of the Trump family and another round of plagiarism charges coursing through social media.
The Daily Show's Twitter account seemed to pounce first when it pointed out lines from Donald Trump Jr.'s speech that seemed to be identical to words first used in a May article by F.H. Buckley in The American Conservative called "Trump vs. the New Class."

But of course, the controversy was put to rest when the author of the article admitted he was a speechwriter of Donald Trump, Jr.'s speech and penned the passage at issue.
Nevertheless, egghead academics claim it to be "self-plagiarism," which is ridiculous for anyone in politics.
Gotcha journalism fails once again.
Self plagiarism? The ghost of George Orwell hangs heavy over this one. “1984”, described how the state (Obama”s minions) would corrupt the language.
How does the crime of plagiarism compare to the activities of people that come up with expressions like “affordable care act.”
It’s deflection since they can’t counter the speeches
I was hoping tgd libs were going to do this for day 2... They have now overplayed the plagiarism card
They overplayed the plagiarism card on Day 1 with that tripe about Melania. But the leftist eggheads are unhinged.
My son had a high school teacher who faced some kind of college penalty for self-plagiarizing. Not kidding. I don’t know if she was working on her Masters degree or what. But she was not a happy camper about it. Liberals make up lunatic rules for living.
Of course, because: 1) a political convention is a college classroom; and 2) by that metric, every political stump speech is "self-plagiarism."
I’d love to see Trump use three or for sentences from is various books in his speech, and not say specifically that they are from there. Drive the bean counters nuts.
Of course, because quoting yourself is taking a short cut to rewriting a paper. Efficiency is never a quality of the left.
Affordable care act is Obama “Self plagiarism”
The had a focus group on Hannity and they were asked about Donald JR’s speech and they loved it and some said it would make them think about voting for The Donald.
This is why there is an uproar over the speech because it was effective.
This really is the kind of thing where you say so? and they give up. They don’t actually care and neither does the public.
well... now it is going to be so overplayed it’s not going to work well with many of those people it worked successfully on day 1.
Except it wasn't stealing...— Frank Buckley (@fbuckley) July 20, 2016
If those are the top two crimes, Slow Joe’s really in trouble!

I thought that if you’re quoting yourself it has to be cited, if it’s something that would normally require that a source be given.
