INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) Shortly after being officially introduced as Donald Trumps running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence was trending on Twitter but it had nothing to do with politics.
Pence posted a photo of his family eating at a Chilis restaurant in New York, prompting a storm of tweets.

Lot of good food trucks that aren’t Halal. But I agree that there are so many Halal food trucks that it’s easy for a visitor to think that’s all they have.
This is considered newsworthy? Some social media comments about Mike Pence eating dinner at a chain restaurant?
“LOL. Thats so funny. Pure NY arrogance.”
We’re not Boston or Philadelphia here, we are talking NEW YORK CITY. If you don’t know a good place to eat, try the next joint you walk by - if they’re no good, they’re long gone.
A lot of good and cheap hole in the wall breakfast joints as well...one can eat cheap while everything else in NYC sucks your wallet dry!
>>Sorry, but Im with the left here. There is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to eat at a national chain joint in New York City.
Shouldn’t a person be able to eat where they want? They didn’t build that Chilis for him, so someone must eat there.
As with any Republican, no matter what he does the left will find fault with it. This is why Pence, Trump and really the entire Republican party should disregard the howls of the left.
It could be he is in town with his family, and just wants a convenient place to stop in for a bite to eat. Just because he is in NYC does not mean that he is there to steep himself in the local cuisine.
Some people (a lot of people) come to NYC on business and just want to get in and out with a minimum of fuss and expense. There are people out there who don't give a hoot about the NYC foodie scene. Really...
Normal Midwestern people doing a normal thing ... and people (including “conservatives”) are saying they shouldn’t have done it, because ... what? We shouldn’t vote for people unless they act like they’re too good for us?
We are truly living in Bizarro World.
Where does anybody say they are not voting for Trump/Pence because of this?
If the Pences’ dinner choice matters at all, it matters because it affects how someone, somewhere will vote. Otherwise, it’s just thousands playing a game of snobby-pants.
Me.
I will not vote for Trump/Pence because Pence ate at Chili’s in NY.
I expect better restaurant choices from a vice president.
Thank you, Laz. Someone has to show some consistency.
If you write in Tom the Son, that will be three votes for him!
Libs are mental cases.
Glad to see some sane folks blasted the libs in response.
We are going to need more of that, oherwise the libs establish the narrative.
And they are not used to being challenged.
just for the record, if he ate at a NY restaurant, how would you know with reasonable certainty that it was good?
If he’s eating in a NY restaurant, it is (by definition) horrible.
Everything about NY is all suck.
I am on board the Tom the Son Train, baby!
It’s all about momentum!
Picture a grizzly bear running downhill, and you have an image of Tom the Son with momentum.
Yea, I know - just having fun with him! Still a great pick, by the way.
But a few ago I do remember seeing a Pizza Hut there...not sure how long it lasted though, wasn’t there the next time I visited. Also not sure what made Pizza Hut think they could compete there selling pizza, but I guess they needed to learn the hard way.
I prefer Rue 57 myself. Not that pricey by New York standards and they usually have something incredibly tasty on the specials menu.
