Man Shoots at 'Pokemon Go' Players Outside House
AP via liveleak ^ | 7/17/16 | AP

Authorities say a Florida man fired shots at two late-night "Pokemon Go" players in a car outside his house but no one was injured.

The homeowner who shot at the teens has a different account of what happened early Saturday. When interviewed by deputies, the homeowner said he was woken up by a loud noise outside of his home and spotted a white car with its brake lights on in the street outside his house. That's when he grabbed his handgun and went outside. He recalled hearing someone say something to the effect of "did you get anything?" Then he said he stepped in front of the car and said not to move.

The car, he said, accelerated toward him. He fled from the street and shot at the car several times as it sped off.

“This “game” provides perfect cover for terrorists and others who want to case out areas “

No, it seems to provide idiots a weak excuse for when they think trying to assault people for making them uncomfortable is justified.

“let it go long enough and it will desensitize folks against strangers loitering and acting strange..”

How about if someone isn’t committing a crime that you just mind your own business?

This game may be the a great thing for old cranks to virtue-signal off of that they are too “good” for something so “dumb”, but is harmless and no more destructive than all of stupid fads all of the people here did at one time or another.

It’s stupid summer fun that will play itself out. Let them have their fun.

This game’s intention is to promote Marxism to the Millenial population. The game developers are deliberately restricting the best and rarest Pokemon to private property, and Millenials are demanding the government allow them unfettered access to these strong/rare Pokemon.

Pokemon has always been a fundamentally Leftist series: from its attempts to ingrain Darwinism as fundamental to life, to their pandering to the SJW crowd by changing a Pokemon (Jynx) which lunatics decried as racist, to the transgender pandering (such as allowing a Pokemon called “Mr. Mime” to have a 50/50 male/female ratio), the series’ attempts to indoctrinate Millenials threaten moral people everywhere.

I must be getting old. I consider myself to be tech-savvy and generally I have the latest and greatest in technology. But I can't make heads or tails out of this Pokemon Go game. Out of curiosity I researched it on the Web and then tried to get my son to explain it to me. Something about seeing various pokemons on your app as you navigate the real word and then flicking "pokemon balls" at them to capture them and then elevating their CP percentage (combat power) by using candies and stardust. It seems way too childish for anybody over 14. Yet walking Brooklyn Bridge Park the other day with my son, we saw a large number of adults obviously playing this game.

During my research online, I saw that Pokemon Go has replaced Candy Crush as the most popular thing to do with your cellphone. Never played that either but I see many people playing it on the train during my commute. Mostly women but some men too. It looks a bit odd to see a grown man play Candy Crush with all those girly colors on the screen.

My favorite app is Kindle. I'm finally making a dent in my reading list as I can now take my books anywhere.

We were in Washington DC yesterday. We saw a young man riding his bike through DC traffic, no hands glued to his phone, not a care in the world.

Easy match - Car at stoplight, driver busy with phone - pointing out of window - light changed, he was too busy to bother until car behind leaned on horn! Driver in front tossed phone to seat, gave universal hand-sign, drove through amber light!

Another opportunity for "Impaired Driving!"

They should’ve gotten off his damned lawn.

According to the article, they were on the street.

This “game” provides perfect cover for terrorists and others who want to case out areas - let it go long enough and it will desensitize folks against strangers loitering and acting strange...

My first thought as well. I quit geocashing because, imo, it wasn't safe anymore. 10-15 years ago, park rangers were getting reports from muggles about "terrorists" hiding stuff. The rangers would explain they weren't terrorists but after a while, who knows if their complacency might cause them to ignore a real call. Now, this new pokemon game takes it to another level.

Did you watch the video's of people after the Nice killings? So many were wandering around with their noses in their phones totally oblivious to their surroundings and a possible second wave of killings. People do not learn.

Oh, no, officer, sir. I wasn’t breaking in to that house. I was, uh, playing pokemon.

Too bad that homeowner is going to end up in jail over this.

Trespassing is a valid reason to blow a hole in someone. The game is not harmless.

Good luck explaining to the cops why you were parked in front of a strangers house at 2am ...

Why?

Is there some sort of law that says you can only park in front of houses of people that you know?

“Is there some sort of law that says you can only park in front of houses of people that you know? “

No. But when you have a dead body under the wheels of your car parked in front of a house of a stranger at 2AM does not make for a good night ...

If you have a dead body under your wheels where you are parked is probably the least of your problems.

Cars on the street =/= your property.

Do you also think it is ok to shoot people that walk down the sidewalk at night too?

Way to play the perfect “brainless dope with a gun” trope the left loves to push to the letter.

I do understand the word “trespass”. I suggest you learn that one yourself, your life may depend upon it.

Ingress, the predecessor, is a bit better in that regard. It goes by fixed landmarks and only requires you to be within 40 meters. Second, they’re quite responsive to property owner concerns, where they’ll remove bad locations. Finally, you don’t have to go everywhere for Ingress - just where you’re comfortable with playing.
