Claims that the Nice truck attacker was a radicalized Islamist just don't add up to at least one person who knew Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel.

He was indeed a muslim. Perhaps he did not go to mosque and did not abide by the food rules. But he certainly demonstrated that he was OK with the rules to kill infidels. That’s the part I am concerned with.

If he ate pork, then dying as he killed and terrorized unbelievers may be the best or only way to redeem himself. At this point he is more a true child of Islam and Mohammad than any of his pork abstaining relatives who have not died for jihad.
