How so ? ..... Air operations out of the Lick and Batman were 24/7 from 1/15/91 !
They held down NATO’s right flank against the USSR and the Warsaw Pact for decades. They were the most feared soldiers fighting for the UN (the US, in reality) in the Korean War. Turkey was also the first Muslim country to recognize Israel (Iran was second in 1953) I’ve met US military whose best second language was Turkish. The problems started with Erdogan and his party and that’s where the problems must be solved. Let this failed coup be like any “good” failure. A learning experience and preparation for the next try.

Because they let us have bases there in a strategically important area. Just like Saudi Arabia, it’s a business arrangement with people that hate us and want to kill us.
