3 miles in 20 hours? Wow, I went just over twenty miles with my brother and a friend at the tender age of 13/14 with no adult supervision in just two days. And I didn’t think rivers went in circles; actually used a map so I knew where my Dad could drop us off, roughly how long it would take, and where we could be extracted at a location with a pay phone. Did get pretty severe sunburn though, and learned that even in the summer it can be chilly sleeping on the river bank in just swim trunks.

It’s a good thing they didn’t try that in lake Michigan. They’d be in Wisconsin by now. Or playing that Great Lakes favorite game “Freighter tag”.

No bug juice. No map. No phone.
Would they walk in a city they did not know so unprepared?
It shows how pampered and protected these women’s lives have been.
If our society is so “racist”, how can this be?

"They were informed by somebody at the bridge that the river goes in a circle and if they put in there they would come back to their car," he said.
I think "somebody" was laughing it up at the bar later on.

It must have taken some BIG inner-tubes to float this trio. Monster truck? Front-end loader tubes?

We are all ignorant, just about different things. These women are guilty of only gullibility.
Think of the stereotype of the country kids new in a city.
I admit that this is a rather extreme case, kind of like the person attempting to sit their toddler on the friendly buffalo bull in Yellowstone.
