For Sean Hannity, the question of who would be best suited to join Donald Trump on the Republican ticket is clear-cut: It's Newt Gingrich. Appearing on Fox News Monday night, the former speaker of the House heard a cascade of effusive praise and reasoning as to why he would be best positioned to take on the role of Trump's No. 2. Hannity laid out what he saw as the most important questions for the presumptive nominee to consider as he weighed choices on his short list, which have been said to include the likes of Gingrich, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Gov. Mike Pence and retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn.
"Who would be best at prosecuting the case against Hillary in terms of the list that he has? Who would be best in terms of making the case and articulating the case for Donald Trump with a positive voice like you have? Who would be the person that would pretty much be assured a win in any presidential/vice presidential debate?" Hannity told Gingrich. "I think youve checked that corner. Who has balanced the budget and given us a surplus? Who has the ability to work with Congress? I check all the boxes, and you're right there at the top, and I think you'd be the right choice. What is your response to that?" Hannity made sure to remark that he was not offering up the recommendation "as a friend." "I'm speaking objectively here. I think you would prosecute the case against Hillary better than anybody, strategize and help them win, and help him govern, which, with a hostile speaker and majority leader, would be difficult," the Fox host continued, as Gingrich grinned. Such talk "is all very flattering," Gingrich said, calling Hannity's questions "a pretty good set of criteria."

Rather emphatic for Sean. I like Newt - a lot. But his is old, and I would hope that Trump picks an asset VP with an eye towards succession, not a one off, help for today only asset.
You forgot BARF ALERT
I agree with you.
Newt is a Globalist
Rest assured it will not be Newt.
As veep, Gingrich would also be president of the Senate, but he’d really be a key player all around.
As some sort of side advisor, he’d constantly be having to assert his authority indirectly.
“And I wouldnt be happy with anyone other then Sarah Palin.”
Another one I sincerely hope finds a place in the administration, but not as VP. She was made radioactive. Unfairly, unjustly, even criminally maligned, but it happened. She would not help the ticket, but I hope and pray she would get a substantive position in the administration.
Its likely going to be Pence. But Newt knows he will get a plum job someplace. Maybe National Security Advisor.
I didn’t know this but we only established diplomatic relations with Mongolia in 1987.
LOL. There are other alternatives.
Governor Greg Abbott of Texas
Senator Jeff Sessions
Christie could destroy Hillarys VP in a debate..destroy! I m the only one on here that thinks Christie would be the best.
We saw what he did to little marco. He is younger too. I dont trust Newt and Im from GA..but if he is chosen ill support him wholeheartedly
Pence never even talks about social issues, it isn’t part of his agenda and when he does you get the impression he lives in a right-wing bubble. It is a total disaster for him.
You probably just haven’t seen enough of Christie to dislike him sufficiently. (I am from the NYC area.)
None of them are trustworthy. Christie would have been on that couch with Pelosi and Newt would have probably given Barry that critical bear hug as the sentiment turned toward his re-election in 2012.
But at least Newt has a few conservative bones in his body.
Newt is a terrible choice, Sean.
Actually, Hannity was the best of the talk radio bunch, he was the only honest broker of all of them. He was never anti-Trump, not in the slightest, he gave him lots of interview times, and allowed him to explain himself.
Levin is the craziest, he's still in mourning, still in #nevertrump land to his personal shame. Rush went against his own maxim, that he wouldn't endorse someone, and wouldn't hurt a potential winning candidate against the dems. I think he did great damage during the two months before Cruz dropped out, damage I hear from friends still today. I'm glad he stopped, but I wish Rush would apologize to his audience and admit what he did when he went into the tank for Cruz and constantly berated Trump and his supporters.
Hannity needs not give any apology, he played it correctly. I find him a bit boring, but he was the best of the most popular talk show hosts, by far.
I’m a bit surprised Sean would make such a statement. He’s probably going to have to find a way to walk it back, is my guess.
They will likely have to announce the location soon and then everyone will be on VP watch. Exciting times and hope it is Newt.
Sean is one of the best communicators for conservatism. He gave the swift boat veterans a lot of coverage in the 2004 election and he is relentless when he goes after the left. He has the facts and figures and is very sharp when debating the left.
Newt has shown over the decades he loves our country. He would be a great addition as VP in the Trump Administration.
The Clintons hava a MINO - Marriage in Name Only.
If the left wants to criticize Trump or Newt, then it would give the right the opportunity to question why the Clintons are never in the same location other than a few times a year. In other words, only when it helps them politically.
“Actually, Hannity was the best of the talk radio bunch, he was the only honest broker of all of them. He was never anti-Trump, not in the slightest, he gave him lots of interview times, and allowed him to explain himself.”
Yes. His stock went up a lot with me, from its 2012 low.
What I heard was the best he has done over the years. Fair and objective with all the candidates, intimidated by none of them.
