People supporting Donald Trump's presidential bid will "feel betrayed" should the presumptive Republican nominee's campaign promises go unsatisfied, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush predicted Monday.
Speaking to MSNBC contributor Nicolle Wallace, who served as his press secretary in Tallahassee, Bush called Trump "to his credit ... very smart at exploiting these kind of opportunities."
"He's a master at understanding how the media works more than anybody I've ever seen in politics. Kudos to him, for kind of creating the environment and then manipulating the environment to his effect," Bush said in the interview airing in full Monday night.
There will be no wall built, Bush told Wallace, and Mexico will not pay for it, nor will there be a ban on Muslims.
"This is all, like, an alternative universe that he created," Bush said of Trump. "The reality is, that's not going to happen. And people are going to be deeply frustrated and the divides will grow in our country. And this extraordinary country, still the greatest country on the face of the earth, will continue to stagger instead of soar. And that's the heartbreaking part of this, is I think people are really going to feel betrayed."
His dad was even more of a failure!
It runs in the family.
“”This is all, like, an alternative universe that he created,” Bush said of Trump.”
Yes it is, and it’s long past time!! And it’s also long past time when you and your $hit family slinks away into total obsurity.
Wow...was wondering when Jeb would show up again. I guess he still didn’t get the message, we do not want another from the Bush Dynasty line.
So the question is this, if they put Trump as the nominee and they choose someone else, what happens to the party? The damage such a betrayal by the party would cause would essentially hand the election to Hillary. Or are they really counting on us to pull the lever for anyone but Hillary?
I have said it before and I’ll say it again the GOP is a bunch of wolves in sheep’s clothing and a stunt like this...how could anyone vote at all?
If there is going to be a third party, this would be the election for it. It is all being rigged and I want to know why so very few are realizing it.
Jeb talks of anger and betrayal? Uh? Me thinks he doesn’t know he’s talking to the kettle.
It is surprising that his mom doesn't remind him that whining reflects poorly on the family.
Well, at least with Jeb’s comments we can get yet again a good picture of the entire Bush Family’s modus operandi. Do nothing...because doing something is hard and the people that make you really rich don’t want you to change anything.
No Jed...we feel betrayed by you and the rest of the GOPe...I’d rather have a President who tries and fails than one like you who looks into the tv camera and says, ‘I’m going to screw you but vote for me anyway’...
Jeb steps up and eloquently reminds us of why practically no one voted for him.
I care about his attitude and what he wants to do. The Dems, of course, will fight him. But I want him to at least fight. A real fight.
The real tragedy is that Jeb won’t go away...
Go away Jeb
Real and recognized leaders of America's past had more trust in the common sense and judgement of We, the People, as evidenced by the words of the Author of our Declaration of Independence from entrenched power in government:
"I am not among those who fear the people. They...are our dependence for continued freedom. And to preserve their independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude. If we run into such debts, as that we must be taxed in our meat and in our drink, in our necessaries and our comforts, in our labors and our amusements, for our callings and our creeds...our people...must come to labor sixteen hours in the twenty-four, give the earnings of fifteen of these to the government for their debts and daily expenses; and the sixteenth being insufficient to afford us bread, we must live, as they (the British) now do, on oatmeal and potatoes; have no time to think, no means of calling the mismanagers to account; but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow-sufferers....This example reads to us the salutary lesson that private fortunes are destroyed by public, as well as by private extravagance. And this is the tendency of all human governments. A departure from the principle in one instance, becomes a precedent for a second; that second for a third; and so on, till the bulk of society is reduced to be mere automatons of misery, to have no sensibilities left but for sinning and suffering. Then begins, indeed, the 'bellum omnium in omnia,' which some philosophers...have mistaken for the natural, instead of the abusive, state of man. And the fore-horse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follows that, and in its train wretchedness and oppression." - Thomas JeffersonJeb must come to understand that his Party's elites have participated in "loading us with perpetual debt," and "the People" have spoken, and will speak!!
(wailing) Oh, God, what have we doooonnne? If I'd known this I never would have registered independent.
P.S. I've felt betrayed for the last twenty years.
Or how about this one: “It’s voodoo economics” George H.W. Bush.
Jeb - we’re used to being betrayed, by RINOs
The question on my mind:
My neighbors back door is about 25 feet from my backdoor.
If I had a 12-yr-old daughter leaving my back door for school at the same time one of Obamas Syrian refugee young men leaves his back door 25 feet away . . . would my daughter ever be seen alive again?
Expecting your answer soon,
donna
P.S. I have no Secret Service protection detail assigned to me and my family.
Let’s talk tragedies, Jeb. Like the Presidencies of your Father and Brother.
I’m voting Trump and certainly not a Jeb fan, but I have to agree with what he’s saying here. Not so much about immigration, but I’ll be shocked if this Wall gets built at all. Especially in 4 years. I’ll be even more shocked if Mexico pays for any of it, in any way.
At least Jeb acknowledges he was literally steam-rollered by the Trump juggernaut, and that The Donald is extremely adroit at managing a serious campaign. No longer underestimating The Donald, Jeb is reduced to trying to muster forces to at least apply some kind of redirection of the trajectory which The Donald is on.
Might as well try to redirect the incoming path of a land-impact meteorite.
