Starbucks Corp. SBUX, +0.04% said Monday it will give raises of at least 5% to all partners and store managers in U.S. company stores, starting Oct. 3, in response to what Chief Executive Howard Schultz called a "tragic week of violence" in the U.S. In a letter to employees posted on Starbucks' website, Schultz said it will double the "bean stock" award for employees who have reached two years of continuous service with the company. Coupled with the pay rise, the new bean stock program will result in total compensation for employees increasing between 5% to 15%. The coffee seller is also revising its benefits program to allow employees to shop for personalized health care plans. Schultz said the company will also attempt to be more accommodative with scheduling and its dress code. The stock, which rose 0.3% in morning trade, has lost 5.7% year to date, while the S&P 500 has gained 4.5%.

Under the heading of the strange.
Will the customers pay more ?
What an incentive program. Will the next shooter be a Starbucks employee?
[Will the customers pay more ?]
Starbucks apparently already raised their prices.
so.....if we can talk someone into going out and shooting some more cops, do we get another raise?
WTF?
Will the customers pay more ?
Pure marketing BS. You can bet that if it didn’t make economic sense or it cut into profits too much, he wouldn’t be doing it. My bet is that Starbucks’ prices are going up yet again and this is his way to shield the bad PR that will come from it.
Because of last week we’ll give you a raise in October. SAY WHAT?
Nothing strange here. This is how Liberals think.
The week of July the 4th, will warrant you a raise three months later. Why? Well it was a tough week.
I suspect raises were on the way anyway, and Starbucks decided to capitalize on them publicly on the backs of dead police officers.
They did announce that last week. My response to their undrinkable, over-priced coffee...
Why do these workers deserve this? It makes no sense.
That is, the ones they don't fire.
Did they name it DinDu Nuffin Raise?
So should the employees be “happy” about all the deaths?
More importantly, is the employer now made “happy”?
I assume the management of Starbucks would consider it a tragedy if Trump wins in November. Vote for Trump and give Starbucks’ employees a pay raise!
What the heck does giving a raise have to do with anything that’s happened this week?
Yes, of course, the “raise” comes at the expense of the customer... which I’m not, never have been and never will be.
BTW, Starbucks made the trifecta being on my lists of companies that support LGBT, selling of baby parts and BLM.
Do the employees now wear uniforms and prefer to wear cut-off jeans and tank tops?
I'm glad I never worked for a company whose CEO made company policy decisions based on ever-changing, ever-boiling social issues.

Time to sell shares if you have them.
Like what damn fool CEO gives raises because of this?
