Violence in Chicago is reaching epidemic proportions. In the first five months of 2016, someone was shot every 2¹/₂ hours and someone murdered every 14 hours, for a total of nearly 1,400 nonfatal shooting victims and 240 fatalities.
Over Memorial Day weekend, 69 people were shot, nearly one per hour, dwarfing the previous year’s tally of 53 shootings over the same period. The violence is spilling over from the city’s gang-infested South and West sides into the downtown business district; even Lake Shore Drive has seen drive-by shootings and robberies.
The growing mayhem is the result of Chicago police officers’ withdrawal from proactive enforcement, making the city a dramatic example of what I have called the “Ferguson effect.”
Since the fatal shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., in August 2014, the conceit that American policing is lethally racist has dominated the national airwaves and political discourse, from the White House on down.

Reading about the violence and general anarchy and mayhem in Chicago makes me pine for the streets of long-lost Detroit, where I grew up.
Unfortunately, it’s not just thugs that get hit. When you miss a shot the bullet has to go somewhere, and these bangers miss a lot.
Like in the old housing projects, most of the people living there were just trying to get by but the thugees ruin it for everybody. That’s what thugs do - ruin it for everybody.
Maybe it would be best to just sit back and watch things unfold, sooner or later the shooting will have to end.
Is it racist to say that our former Chicago community organizer President and his cronies are turning Chicago into Detroit? Rule of law and cops are racist so anarchy and chaos and every man for himself must not be racist? Is it racist to mention that these urban progressive areas are turning into third world nations under the premise of not being racist?
What a stupid world we live in.
All of the murders, lynchings, bombings, and other acts of violence perpetrated by the KKK, who are (or were) the terrorist wing of the Democrat party, and formed by them in response to uppity N******’s, do not compare to what the black race and sadly predominant culture have done to themselves.
F Chi in the F. No city has earned it more. Not NYC (close), not Detroit, not Baltimore, not Dallas. Suffer and like it.
Since blacks hate white cops, perhaps the “black communities” should select their own cops from their people.

Yes, I have a conceal/carry permit. Yes, I violate the ban on carrying on public transportation (commuter train, Metra) and yes, I violate the building owner's "No handguns" policy.
I look at it this way: If I'm conceal/carrying properly - NO ONE KNOWS. In the event I need to defend my (or someone elses) life, they're going to be damn' glad I'm carrying.

Are you suggesting cutting the black section out, making it it's own 'city' let it appoint it's own cops, mayor, fire dept, etc and live on it's own?

This is about the Obamaconomy. No jobs but dealing herion and meth. Dealers - e.g. black males 18-34 - have no other job prospects and have to shoot out a patch.

Moved from Chicago to Detroit about a year-and-a-half ago. I’d say the two are much about the same. Detroit is gentrifying, much like the area of Chicago where I lived. It is amusing to see the “expositions” of the keyboard cowboys who have visited neither.

How about separate countries?
It is my firm belief that whites and blacks can never coexist peacefully together. The evidence is overwhelming. There is a reason for it, but no explanation is actually needed since the evidence everywhere in the world and in history is so great.
So let’s not blame anyone, simply accept reality, have a friendly separation and let each side run their affairs their way. Even Lincoln was for separation, but he didn’t have the courage to follow through on his convictions. And there are blacks calling for separation - Farrakhan happens to be one of them.
Why continue trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Let’s agree that we have irreconcilable differences and like a bad marriage end this agony.
