Violence in Chicago is reaching epidemic proportions. In the first five months of 2016, someone was shot every 2¹/₂ hours and someone murdered every 14 hours, for a total of nearly 1,400 nonfatal shooting victims and 240 fatalities.
Over Memorial Day weekend, 69 people were shot, nearly one per hour, dwarfing the previous year’s tally of 53 shootings over the same period. The violence is spilling over from the city’s gang-infested South and West sides into the downtown business district; even Lake Shore Drive has seen drive-by shootings and robberies.
The growing mayhem is the result of Chicago police officers’ withdrawal from proactive enforcement, making the city a dramatic example of what I have called the “Ferguson effect.”
Since the fatal shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., in August 2014, the conceit that American policing is lethally racist has dominated the national airwaves and political discourse, from the White House on down.

This is called the Liberal Effect or Progressive Effect or democRAT Effect but not the Ferguson Effect.
The Ferguson Effect is just another name for nothing left to lose....isn't that a line in a song? :-)
Seems they are more into blaming whites than fixing problems.
I’m also waiting for almost eight years for Obama to come out and speak about white people murdered like he does for politics some black people.
Over 2000 people have been shot in Chicago this year. Mostly blacks shooting other blacks. But somehow it’s whitey’s fault.
At this rate we’ll just have to wrap the ghettos in crime tape and be done with it. They can’t seem to live like civilized human beings while languishing on public welfare.
And the black leadership of this country will push the black death statistics in America’s face and exclaim proudly and confidently that these deaths are the result of police not doing their job in black neighborhoods because of police racism. They will say, “look at white neighborhoods...police do their jobs in white neighborhoods!?!” Racism! RACISM! RACISM!!!!!

If we had visitors from Outer Space, how would we explain why all our major cities are uninhabitable?
They got a long way to go.....2000 is just a drop in the bucket. 200 million would be a good start.

We lived there 5 years ago....downtown by the Water Tower and the Ritz.....absolutely a beautiful city....tree lined streets, flowers everywhere, well kept, safe enough to go walking every night.......gorgeous are of the city. We moved the month after the Gov. raised the state income tax OVERNIGHT by 66%!!! I would NEVER move back there now.
About 2,800 blacks were en total lynched in an 80 year period from the 1880’s to the 1960’s. 4 times More than that are killed each year by fellow blacks.

What a difference 65+ years has made...As a kid I could take a bus,or the “L’ for a quarter and spend all day in the museums....,art,science,natural history,aquarium,planetarium and no one worried....Just saying..it WAS a great place ‘ONCE UPON A TIME !!!!
Why is this a bad thing? They don’t want police and they’re getting their wish. Since they vote for Democrats one can’t claim they’re innocent victims; they are getting exactly what they’re voting for. To paraphrase Mencken, they’re getting it “good and hard”.
The upside of course is that subhuman thugs are pretty much killing other subhuman thugs, which in the end reduces both the crime rate and the cost of trial and incarceration. There is collateral damage, but to restate my point above, the victims are not innocent. This is all a consequence of their choices.
