Calls for strict gun control following a deadly week in America come despite new statistics that show gun deaths plummeting as sales of firearms soar.
According to the industry's trade group, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, homicides by gun have dropped 43 percent since 1991. Other crime with a gun such as robberies have decreased even more, by 70 percent since 1993.
In a graphic display of the numbers, NSSF also showed that unintentional deaths with a gun have dropped 82 percent.
Along the way, gun sales have soared to 140 million a year.
And 41 percent of Americans say they have a gun in their home.

“ALWAYS running to a camera and spewing his obsession with gun control.”
It’s a directive from the international Socialists, leftists, communists, whatever you wish to call them. The U.N., the E.U., the Democrat party, and every dictatorship, leftist government in the World is seeking to disarm us so they can have their way.
Obama is just another one of ‘em.
Our Congress failed us. They should have eliminated the problem already, but they have been compromised, and are on the dark side as well. They haven’t any excuses for not doing what we elected them to do.
Americans are very passionate about
Gun Control,
BULLSEYE!
Unless you work on any armed forces installation where you’ll be searched at fired if found on you. Fired if you’re lucky.
Stats like these need to be broadcast far and wide.
What America really needs is ‘OBAMA CONTROL’ as in, get this stupid jerk out of here and get him under control.
UN Small Arms Treaty and the TPP votes looming....
NEITHER of which has US citizens armed.
New common sense gun legislation is needed: federal tax credits for gun safety gun safes; gun safety gun training courses; gun safety training ammunition; gun safety gun scopes; and gun safety training guns.
Which means another 20% are being smart and not saying.
Lovely isn’t it?
I would add Bill Clinton to that picture and pretty much the entire dimocrat party.
They have lost, ergo the desperation.
Here’s the “buy a gun, get trained, carry it always” rebuttal to 0’s blather:
“...But gun rights advocates suggested instead that having a gun is the answer to self protection.
“We’re urging all of our customers, including members of law enforcement and civilians, to stay vigilant. The best defense against a mass shooting is to buy a gun, get trained to use that gun, and carry it all the time,” said Justin Anderson, the marketing director of Hyatt Guns of Charlotte, N.C., one of the nation’s biggest sellers. ...”
He always talks about how we need to get these “powerful weapons off the streets” but he never discusses how he intends to do go about actually removing them “from the streets” or what will happen to the millions of otherwise law abiding citizens that refuse to comply. I wonder why.
Have a good gun and also other weapons near or on you as much as you can. Of course learn proper safety and become fanatical without being a jerk about it.
Of course a gun cannot solve every problem and you are not guaranteed to win. Still bearing arms turn the odds in your favor.
If you can’t carry a gun, wear an NRA vest and hat and act confidently. That will deter many trouble makers.
Nobody has yet poured over the statistics, but there is a good chance that falling crime rates are to a great extent because ordinary citizens are culling the herd of violent criminals at an extraordinary clip.
The FBI regularly interviews armed robbers.
Better than two-thirds (71%) of those robbers sampled by the FBI admitted ten or more lifetime robberies. At least 30 or more robbers admitted to at least 50 armed robberies each.
One gave a statement that he began armed robbing at 15-16 years of age, and he estimated he had committed more than 50 robberies by the time he turned 20 years old.
Which makes it seem obvious that every time a citizen kills a career armed robber, he may be preventing dozens of crimes in the near future. This is bound to impact the statistics.
