Ann Coulter: My VP Prediction — Donald Trump’s First Mistake
Breitbart ^ | July 6,2016 | ANN COULTER

Posted on 07/06/2016 5:10:01 PM PDT by Hojczyk

My vice presidential prediction is: Trump is about to make his first mistake. I knew this would happen as soon as he hired campaign consultants, rather than relying on his gut. If these campaign consultants were any good, their first piece of advice to Trump would be, “Fire us immediately!”

If Trump picks a typical Republican, the odds are better than even that his nominee will end up withdrawing in order to win the good opinion of The New York Times.

Once a week until the election, there will be some fresh media hysteria about a Trump pop-off, and his nominee will come under enormous pressure to repudiate Trump — destroying Trump’s candidacy and winning himself a lifetime of media adulation. The nominee will have visions of well-compensated board positions, Time magazine’s Man of the Year, meetings with actresses, his own show on Fox News — maybe NBC! — and not one, but two covers on Vanity Fair.

Trump doesn’t need a vice president from the party he’s just buried.

Everyone thinks Trump’s model should be Reagan, who chose his main primary rival as his vice presidential nominee. It’s true that the important thing is for Trump to win. Reagan couldn’t have saved the country if he had lost, and nor can Trump.

But, apart from signing off on amnesty, choosing a Bush for his vice president was Reagan’s biggest mistake, foisting this pestilence on the country for no reason. Reagan won in a landslide. Did he really need to worry about carrying Greenwich, Connecticut?

It took 26 years for voters to correct Reagan’s vice presidential mistake, finally rejecting the Bush brand beginning with the 2006 midterm elections. This year, they are trying to correct Reagan’s amnesty mistake. Why pick a vice president who won’t let the voters do that?

I hope you’re right about him only listening to his consultants, but making his own decision.

He ought to throw out EVERY name bandied about so far, with the possible exception of the General, and maybe even him.

It’s amazing, is it not....watching Newt trash Trump less than a month ago, but he can be trusted, sure.

I didn’t hear “bashing”...I heard Gingrich say he thought it was a mistake that Trump made...

Can you sight an example? I’m all ears. I do not portend that the man is perfect. I know what he did, and I know what happened to him, and I take all of it into consideration.

I’m from Illinois, and I worked on his campaign helping him get elected in a bar room brawl with GOPe’s from everywhere in the state of Illinois. We had back to back governors put into the federal prison system, thanks to the prosecutor that Fitzgerald recommended to President Bush. You knew that right?

You? Did you help defeat Carolyn Mosely-Braun?

Yup. Cruz stabbed Trump in the bac, front, and both sides. He would love to see Trump bleed out.

Cruz is hated by everyone he's met, and even his kids can't stand the creep.

Ann went off the wagon with her glowing endorsement of Mitt. Her opinion on the VP pick for Trump however gets her back on the wagon.

He got the GOP to a majority. But then what ? Getting a majority and folding to the leftist opposition is less than useless. He lost all credibility as a leader with the ‘95 budget showdown. If he had held firm, we could’ve destroyed the Clintons and sent them back to Arkansas after a single term.

Yup. Just as Trump hires architects. He looks and listens, but ultimately, it's his decision.

Personally, I think Trump should hire Newt as his Chief of Staff. Trump needs Newt's experience and mentoring on the ways of DC. Newt is smart and doesn't live in a political bubble.

All of us should watch these Gingrich debate highlights to see what a genius he is.

Maybe if Coulter was running for President, she could decide who should be VP.

Here's a guy who scrapes 16 other candidates off his shoes like they were dog crap and the rest of the world is full of geniuses with ready advice for him.

Myopic comments. Study Gingrich’s accomplishments and read my previous post with the embedded links. You might learn something about Newt Gingrich’s forward and creative thinking.
