Ann Coulter: My VP Prediction — Donald Trump’s First Mistake
Breitbart ^ | July 6,2016 | ANN COULTER

Posted on 07/06/2016 5:10:01 PM PDT by Hojczyk

My vice presidential prediction is: Trump is about to make his first mistake. I knew this would happen as soon as he hired campaign consultants, rather than relying on his gut. If these campaign consultants were any good, their first piece of advice to Trump would be, “Fire us immediately!”

If Trump picks a typical Republican, the odds are better than even that his nominee will end up withdrawing in order to win the good opinion of The New York Times.

Once a week until the election, there will be some fresh media hysteria about a Trump pop-off, and his nominee will come under enormous pressure to repudiate Trump — destroying Trump’s candidacy and winning himself a lifetime of media adulation. The nominee will have visions of well-compensated board positions, Time magazine’s Man of the Year, meetings with actresses, his own show on Fox News — maybe NBC! — and not one, but two covers on Vanity Fair.

Trump doesn’t need a vice president from the party he’s just buried.

Everyone thinks Trump’s model should be Reagan, who chose his main primary rival as his vice presidential nominee. It’s true that the important thing is for Trump to win. Reagan couldn’t have saved the country if he had lost, and nor can Trump.

But, apart from signing off on amnesty, choosing a Bush for his vice president was Reagan’s biggest mistake, foisting this pestilence on the country for no reason. Reagan won in a landslide. Did he really need to worry about carrying Greenwich, Connecticut?

It took 26 years for voters to correct Reagan’s vice presidential mistake, finally rejecting the Bush brand beginning with the 2006 midterm elections. This year, they are trying to correct Reagan’s amnesty mistake. Why pick a vice president who won’t let the voters do that?

She was right-on-the-money until she failed to mention Sarah Palin, and rattled off a bunch of names she just must have thought of last minute to fill up column space, and make her deadline.

Trump/Crapo 2016!

That’s not going to work...

Who does Ann want him to name? Ted Nugent maybe? Now that would be fun but maybe not a winning ticket.

No matter who he picks, many people will call it a mistake. He’ll turn out to be right in the long as always.

Trump needs a vice president who is to politics what he is to the business world. Knowledgeable, fearless, a wheeler dealer and negotiator and someone who knows where the bodies are buried. Someone who can twist arms with a smile.

He needs someone who will work tirelessly to push Trump’s agenda through. He doesn’t need help on the ticket, he can win on his own. He doesn’t need a yes man, a first term Senator, a minority.

I think Newt fits the bill.

It looks like a no win situation for Trump. Somebody is going to be disappointed no matter who he picks. VPs are usually overrated in an election.

He NEEDS Gingrich. Somewhere. I like him anywhere. Everyone has baggage. But Trump is a novice in a political war. He needs someone next to him he trusts and can teach him the ropes of Washington. That is Gingrich.

Just because someone talks a good Conservative game doesn’t mean he’s a good leader. We do this to ourselves ALL THE TIME. WE are so hungry for the COnservative words we don’t ask about accomplishments. Gingrich is the only one with Conservative accomplishments.

Brilliant analysis. Coulter needs to get over her Newt hate, or agree to disagree ONCE with Trump and stay on board the Trump Train. Ann preferred Romney over Newt in the last election cycle. What does that tell you? Newt has supported Trump for months while Romney has attempted to sabotage Trump both overtly and behind closed doors.

Ann Coulter needs to get over herself on this one, agree that Trump needs someone who can help him navigate Washington, someone who was willing to support Trump months ago and is a true Patriot. Ann needs to accept Newt as VP, if Newt becomes the choice, and basically just get over her own very narrow opinion on this one.

How about Donald Trump Jr. or Ivanka Trump for VP.
Keep it in the family.

I know neither is a NBC, but after Cruz, Rubio, Jindal, and Barry, that doesn't matter.

PS: It's a joke.

Greg Abbott. Veddy interesting. First time I’ve seen that name in this context. It’s the kind of name that DJT will surprise us with, I think.

He couldn’t stand up to the Clintoons and folded like a cheap suit during the ‘95 Budget showdown. The GOP hasn’t led since.
