Ann Coulter: My VP Prediction — Donald Trump’s First Mistake
Breitbart ^ | July 6,2016 | ANN COULTER

Posted on 07/06/2016 5:10:01 PM PDT by Hojczyk

My vice presidential prediction is: Trump is about to make his first mistake. I knew this would happen as soon as he hired campaign consultants, rather than relying on his gut. If these campaign consultants were any good, their first piece of advice to Trump would be, “Fire us immediately!”

If Trump picks a typical Republican, the odds are better than even that his nominee will end up withdrawing in order to win the good opinion of The New York Times.

Once a week until the election, there will be some fresh media hysteria about a Trump pop-off, and his nominee will come under enormous pressure to repudiate Trump — destroying Trump’s candidacy and winning himself a lifetime of media adulation. The nominee will have visions of well-compensated board positions, Time magazine’s Man of the Year, meetings with actresses, his own show on Fox News — maybe NBC! — and not one, but two covers on Vanity Fair.

Trump doesn’t need a vice president from the party he’s just buried.

Everyone thinks Trump’s model should be Reagan, who chose his main primary rival as his vice presidential nominee. It’s true that the important thing is for Trump to win. Reagan couldn’t have saved the country if he had lost, and nor can Trump.

But, apart from signing off on amnesty, choosing a Bush for his vice president was Reagan’s biggest mistake, foisting this pestilence on the country for no reason. Reagan won in a landslide. Did he really need to worry about carrying Greenwich, Connecticut?

It took 26 years for voters to correct Reagan’s vice presidential mistake, finally rejecting the Bush brand beginning with the 2006 midterm elections. This year, they are trying to correct Reagan’s amnesty mistake. Why pick a vice president who won’t let the voters do that?

Lets not forget, in 2012 Coulter liked Romney when Free Republic went hard for Newt... She was wrong.

We will know in a few days if Newt is Trumps VP pic. Newt is getting tremendous support in person at the OH rally today and all over social media from every day Americans supporting him as the VP pick.

If Trump chooses Newt, those on FR will agree to support. We are all in it to win it in order to ensure Hillary loses in November. If/When Newt is picked as VP, the Newt bashing will die down on Free Republic. That is a fact.

We will all know in a few days who Trump picks. And if it is Newt, who many of us are hoping it is, the Newt haters on Free Republic will stop bashing him. They will either decide to support Trump or not. If in July, right before the RNC Convention when Trump is formally going to accept the nomination, they continue to bash Trump and/or Newt, they will be called out for supporting Hillary. It’s not that big of a deal. We will know in a matter of days. Free Republic ail support Trump know matter who he picks as VP.

“Former prosecutor and NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani; expert in anti terroism defenses.”

You mean the genius who put his emergency command center in a known terrorist target (over strenuous objections from the NYPD and Secret Service), meaning his first order of business during a terrorist attack was to find a new place for his emergency command center?

That guy?

Gingrich has always been good for a soundbite but...

Please read my post #110 about the craven Newt

You don't know him like I have known him for the past 35 years.

I hope you read post #110. Picking a proven BAD and massively unpopular choice like Gingrich (who couldn’t even stand up to the Clintoons when he was Speaker) would harm Trump immensely. We need anti-Washington people, not a political phony and coward who has spent over 4 decades desperately trying to be with the “in crowd.”

If Newt is the VP pic, of course you will continue to support Trump. Only a few more days and all will know who Trump picks. And if it is Newt, all the Newt bashing will cease on FR just like all the Trump bashing did. Either way, Trump said tonight that Newt will be part of his administration in some sort of capacity.

So in reality, the Newt bashing needs to stop now. He’s on our side. Newt is team Trump and everyone on FR is team Trump. So hopefully no more Newt bashing.

Trump said tonight that Newt will be part of his administration in some capacity.

So the Newt bashing should stop. Newt is on team Trump and we need to win in November, and Corrupt Hilary needs to lose. Hope Newt is VP, but if he isn’t, Trump already said he is gong to be part of the Trump Administration. YES !

If it happens I will probably just crawl in a hole and dig in.

Our nation is doomed if Trump picks cloven hoofed Newt.

Oh, just so you will know, I am not bashing Newt! I am just warning those that only know Newt from his words of the past eight years.

Some of us have watched his actions for the past 35 years. His mother was bipolar and he obviously inherited it.

But, obviously, IF Trump chooses Newt, you will discontinue bashing Newt. There will be no reason to continue bashing Newt on FR if/when he is picked to be Trump’s VP. Either way, Trump pretty much said tonight that Newt will be part of his administration in some capacity. So to continue to bash Newt is only helping Crooked Hillary, it is not helping Trump win in November.

Trump said tonight Newt will be part of his administration. Nothing Newt bashers can do about it. Support Trump, stay silent with the bashing or move on.

I hate to quote myself but, as I just indicated above, "(I)f it happens I will probably just crawl in a hole and dig in."

Implicit in that is the fact that I will no longer be what you call "Newt bashing." I will be left to - silently - weep for our once Great Nation.

Cheers newbie FRiend!

I trust Mr. Trump’s judgement so I will settle for whoever he picks (well, as long as it’s not Cruz).

I understand both of your concerns. I do like Newt though.

Excellent and devastating critique that sums up Newt’s problems to a “T.”

Thanks! Sad no one seems to be listening.

Senator Eagleton had to drop out as the Democrat VP nominee when it was found that he had received electroshock therapy for depression.

Newt told a reporter from Mother Jones that "I ultimately wound up at a point where suicide, or going insane, or divorce were the last three options."

Does that sound like the kind of person that we need as second to the man with the nuclear launch codes?

Suicide, insanity, or divorce, the mantra of a pathetic lost soul.

Understood.

Just know, MILLIONS were horrified when Romney was nominated in 2012. HORRIFIED. And many did more than just crawl in a hole and dig in… they didn't vote for Romney by the millions. Romney not only lost, he has the ego and vulgarity, including being low class on a level never seen before by a previous nominee, that he is openly fighting Trump, while Paul Ryan passively aggressively bashes Trump ever other day. It needs to stop. They are both has-beens.

Fortunately, Trump has much more appeal over Romney by the millions. Those who didn't support Romney just left the discussion which you have indicated you will do. At least those that are not for Trump and possibly Newt, will stop bashing him. We get enough of that on the left. Bashing Trump non-stop is just a indirect way of supporting Corrupt Hillary, whether it is intentional or not. It's one thing to say , I support Trump, but if he picks so and so as a VP, I'll be disappointed, but I trust his judgement and will support his VP pick. It's another thing to say, I support Trump, but if he chooses so and so as VP, I'm out. That doesn't make sense. Just own that lack of support of Trump and move on.

Trump has been bashed since day one and his supporters are tired of it. Fortunately, if Trump chooses Newt, which many of us overwhelmingly support, the Newt bashing will cease.

Newt is on Newt’s side. You should listen to people who actually know the man and cut out the mindless cheerleading. He’s been in politics for 42 years. He is NOT an outsider. We need fresh blood, not old, curdled RINOs.
