Donald Trumps campaign has begun formally vetting possible running mates, with former House speaker Newt Gingrich emerging as the leading candidate, followed by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. But there are more than a half-dozen others being discussed as possibilities, according to several people with knowledge of the process.
Given Trumps unpredictability, campaign associates caution that the presumptive Republican nominee could still shake up his shortlist. But with little more than two weeks before the start of the Republican National Convention, Gingrich and Christie have been asked to submit documents and are being cast as favorites for the post inside the campaign. Gingrich in particular is the beneficiary of a drumbeat of support from Trump confidants such as Ben Carson...

I think the two of them would look too intimidating. Christi is a good speaker though. AG would be good for him.
You guys dont want the GUN GRABBER Christie,
I DONT WANT the guy who met with Al sharpton, who destroyed Stephen Pagone’s life, is responbible for the death of Korean store owners, attacks on Jews in Crown Heights, was caught on tape dealing coke, worked for THEN ratted ON the mob...
No. No. And No.
“...someone from the Midwest...potential swing states according to recent stats.Ohio....Michigan.... “
I’ve got it !! Ohio governor Kasich!!!
No?
Totally agree. I think Christie would be a very strong VP candidate. He would not fall apart in a debate against someone like Warren.
Be careful—dissing NY (East Coast) values got a certain candidate in a lot of trouble.
Sessions is too notch. He would certainly defy expectations - IMO he too old to run as president later and Trump already has Alabama.
Oh, I had forgotten about that.
And what’s with the ###ing weeping over talkign to Bruce Springsteen.
Then he can turn around and rip someone’s throat out, figuratively.
Too unstable for VP, you’re right.
But GREAT and probably very loyal attack dog as AG.
Hillary’s worst nightmare.
I agree with you!!
NOOOOOO!
I like Rand, also...he’s a good solid choice.
Won’t be either one. Too predictable. Both too much like Trump. Gingrich should be chief-of-staff. Carson would bring in some evangelicals, would soften Trump, and might bring in the minority vote. Rubio may do the same.
“but someone who thinks theyre so smart they can look down and have a rather scoffing attitude toward everyone else isnt as smart as they think.”
It works for Obama.
Kasich is GREAT!!!! You mean for Hitlery, right?
Yes, he’s young and seen as a fighter. Good on the stump with a sense of humor. Credible to many dems and blue dogs.
“Thats it then. Im thinking I like Mike Pence. Done. Going to call The Donald.”
LOL! Remind him he needs the Canadian vote ;)
What’s wrong with Pence?
The Wapo and Trump are such good pals that I am sure he is sharing all his plans with them. The fact is they have no clue.
Would it be worth bringing along Kasick to secure Ohio?
“It will be kind of difficult managing it from his new home in a non-extraditable country.”
True, and we are going to have a problem holding the Senate this time anyway, so he needs to stay where he is.
No and HELL No!
