This is good news, many on FR don't know about the liberal politics of this fake.

Michael Gove is standing which is why he's done this - and he is the real deal and will make sure free movement is not allowed, whereas Boris and the others almost certainly will.

Michael Gove as hated as Thatcher by lefties and especially the teacher unions - tells you all you need to know.

Did his constituents actually vote to remain?

Is his parliament district like pie shaped area of the more conservative parts of London?

I guess Greater London as a whole voted remain but maybe his district voted leave.

GOVE!!

If Gove wins the leadership battle (that will finally be decided in September) that is huge. I like Boris, but Gove is even better

So much for my prediction then.

I think it opens the door for May.

She gave a very statesman like speech this morning.

Boris Johnson in her cabinet.

Good luck with it all...

I’m so ill informed on any of this....
....my free time for the past year has been volunteering for Donald Trump.

Is this really a good thing, then, that Johnson will not stand?

Please keep us updated, thanks!

She is a snake not to be trusted, and the referendum campaign has proved that.

I could possibly vote Tory for Gove - never for her.

You are doing the right thing, we need Trump more than anything else.

Its great news - he is as wishy washy as his hair - a liberal at heart, an opportunist in the flesh.

I guess the first step that a successful Gove would take would be to move to join the EEA (which is outside of the EU + has full access to the single market): then cite article 112/113 of the EEA agreement to pause immigration.

The EEA does retain 25% of the EU laws and is subject to free movement, so its not ideal. It would make for a suitable transition point though - and a UK moving to the EEA would probably draw Denmark and other non-Euro users out of the EU and into the EEA.

That shift would delegitimize the EU further. Plus the EU are going to have hair-on-fire banking issues when Deutsche Bank or the Italian banks fail later this year.

I dont think we should put up with freemovement at all - it will become defacto - we can’t allow it to happen.

She is great, was wonderful for the leave campaign, but I don’t see her as leader.

I hear you UK repub, and I agree. If it could be mitigated to free movement of labor rather than persons, then that wouldn’t be too bad, but free movement of persons is poisonous.

But 112/113 of the EEA allows free movement to be throttled way, way down. Lichtenstein has already invoked it: there’s no reason why an overcrowded UK (that was in the EEA) could also do so.

Moving to the EEA would also repeal CAP and the fisheries policy + also give the UK the ability to trade freely + maintain the passport on financial services.

And if the EEA move didn’t stop free movement, then it’s *really* easy to leave the EEA. We would lose access to the single market (and would want to arrange bilateral agreements like Switzerland) but we could do it.

I have no faith in the politicians, the labour agreements we should be making are with countries like Australia and New Zealand and strictly skilled workers only.

The media is toxic and are already doing their utmost to undermine the result and the politicians theirs to dilute what it represented.

Its a turning point, we get one shot at this, I pray that it is the right one or we are well and truly screwed.

Yes, my feeling is that Johnson was willing to run if Gove wasn’t - but he won’t run against Gove. Instead he will support him. And Gove is the better choice.

From the press reports and hysterical friends on FB, you’d think the UK had turned into a roiling pot of hate crimes, murder of muslims, firebombing of Poles! It’s so reminiscent of what goes on here.
